Bought these but won’t even touch a Cobalt SpeedOut. What are my options?

Update...sharpened the bit and I was able to drill out the broken SpeedOut and bolt. I don’t think I was using enough pressure at first. I am a very happy customer.

How do I Drill through Vibranium🛡? I tried a drop of nano-thermite but I cannot control the size of the hole.

Drill bits have soft shanks as do easy outs . Most tools have case hardened shanks but taps are heat treated tool steel and drilling them once broken is not this easy . Most times you can mill one out with carbide but one of the most effective ways is to EDM it out !

I am using a 3/32 cobalt bit to try and drill through a 1/4 in bolt. Try as I my, the bit just does not go through. Makes a bit of a small hole but cannot go through

Thanks for this video. Using a spring-loaded center punch would ensure accuracy by eliminating the wandering of the drill tip until it catches. Suggest using Tap Magic for lubrication and heat transfer. Would appreciate your advice on what drill speed to use with these cobalt-type bits from 1/8" up to 1/2" diameter when drilling regular steel, high speed steel or chrome steel, and the appropriate amount of downward pressure to use when using a hand drill for these projects. If I understood correctly, one should not use an impact or hammer-type drill with these bits, because of their brittleness.

Thanks again for an another informative and practical video. As an habitual breaker of drill bits, I need all the good advice I can get.

Carbide bit, and you were drilling through the softest part of the drill and easy out, they are not as hard due to the heat treating and tempering. Try drilling through the other end and see if you have the same luck.

That's the bit I really need.

I use the exact same thing but usually 5/32, 3/16, 1/4" fits my knife scale pins. Try forgetting to drill O1 or damascus steel then harden it. Definitely buy pure carbide since you can sharpen it. & absolutely backcut the grind to reduce the drilling face surface.
But, if you break one.. use a quality drift and punch them out (if have through hole) same for taps, drills, etc.. they are hard & shatter. Just need to be good with a hammer. 30 + years as a professional fabricator you learn these things. Now professional bladesmith.
