Very very well presented. I come out of 2 decades of honestly thinking and believing in my gift of "tongues." I could speak it, sing it and pray in it at the snap of a finger. Praise the Lord I am recently free of this twisted and extra man made theology.

I come from a Pentecostal background and I to had this “gift of tongues” but one thing that would always bother me was that everything that I was taught about it and experienced I couldn’t find biblical support for it. I often questioned other people about it but they would scare me and say don’t speak against the Holy Spirit! As a Pentecostal I was very confused about my faith and nothing made sense to me. I was told that I am trying to figure God out and I should stop because I will get lost. But one day I realized that God is sovereign and that lead me to reformed theology. And that’s when I finally found answers to all my questions and confusion I was having. My faith now is much more sober and my mind is not confused like it used to be. And yes I stopped praying in tongues and I pray in Russian and English and I get a lot more filled in the Holy Spirit then I did when I prayed in gibberish. Sadly many of my Pentecostal friends are ignorant and don’t want to even look at the history of Pentecostals and they ignorantly bash cessationist accusing them that they deny the Holy Spirit. It’s ridiculous. But praise God for leading me out of all this confusion and I experience the Holy Spirit in a much more intimate way then I did before.

Sometimes words cannot express in prayer what the heart longs to say. In my times of wrestling with God in prayer, often late at night, I let go and just verbalize what the Spirit gives me. It is seldom repetitive and just seems to flow without conscious thought. The result is peace and assurance that my heart’s prayer has been accepted and blessed. I believe this to have been Paul’s experience as well - private edification of Jesus in the Spirit leading to Spiritual power. For me, clear answers often follow this ‘praying in the Spirit’ and my heart says “Amen, thank you Jesus!” Let’s remember that scripture is clear not to forbid speaking in tongues.

Thank you brother Costi for the clear teaching of this topic.

A lot if us at RBC appreciate the time you had to pastor at our church and are happy you were able to laumch your own church.

Please understand there is corporate prayer and there is private personal prayer. Paul said ”For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive.“ ”What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing with the mind also. For otherwise, if you bless God in the spirit only, how will the one who occupies the place of the outsider know to say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you are saying?“ 1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭

Then Paul said, ”For you are giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not edified. I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all; nevertheless, in church I prefer to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.“
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭

Many years ago, I asked the Lord. “What does praying in the spirit actually do? Immediately he placed a vision in front of me. I saw an unmatched chicken egg. As I continued to pray in the spirit I began to see tiny little cracks appear on the shell. As I prayed, more larger cracks appeared and before long a baby chick’s beak appeared. Soon the whole baby chick stood up, although a bit wobbly. The embryo had fully transformed from an embryo to a fuzzy little chick.

Then the Lord showed me a space capsule, which was passing in front of from my left to my right. I watched intently when I saw and heard a retro rocket fire. The capsule sped up a little. Then shortly another retro rocket fired off and the spacecraft rotated just slightly. I continued to watch the spacecraft pass by when another retro rocket fired off for just a few seconds. The spacecraft slightly changed direction. Then the vision went away. Praying in the spirit in your personal prayer language is essential for your spiritual transformation, keep you on course, and in the right orientation, and correct speed so you arrive at your destination on time.

There are errors in some corporate churches when it comes to tongues. No doubt. However, I exhort you to spend as much time as you can praying privately in the spirit. The Lord will bring transformation and new, amazing things into your life, which would never ever happen otherwise.

Funny how the charismatic tongues always sound the same with accent and tone….. where as biblical tongues were many languages which would bring different accents

Thanks brother Costl, and it's interesting that even if we look at the original Greek language of how the word TONGUES is used through out the New Testament, you'll find that it's 'GLOSA' ( A LITERAL TONGUE OR MEMBER OF A HUMAN BODY, A LITERAL UNDERSTUNDABLE LANGUAGE) but not some kind of UN INTELLIGIBLE GIBBERISH.

👉The King James Version uses the word "TONGUES", but you'll find in the other translations, they are called "LANGUAGES" primarily meaning the same thing.

Thank you. I came out of a charismatic church. I was unwilling to fake speaking in tongues and was unable. It caused me to doubt my salvation. God revealed His truth and I’m now in a church that teaches from the Bible. It’s been an adjustment but I’m so thankful for God’s grace and revelation.

"Coached or Coaxed" - yes, that's what was done to me. Thank God I was raised Baptist, and had a firm foundation in the Word.

So, “Raboosha rabbaba” gibberish I’ve been hearing is fake tongues. Real tongues is languages that we know like French, Spanish, English….

Having been raised conservative Presbyterian; I really tried to attend a Pentecostal church; went for a few months and had to stop. I love those people but I don’t know if what they are doing is from the Spirit; they rarely study scripture; and while having corporate prayer, it is very very disruptive to have a room full of people’babbling’. The Bible does have specific teachings on not just ‘babbling’ to be seen. I pray for myself for God’s forgiveness in my feelings about this and for them, because I am sure they think they are being obedient.

Excellent video. It's also interesting how the gibberish "tongues" is practiced in other religions...

What is the purpose of you or I to pray to God in a different earthly language? ‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:2‬ ‭
[2] For the person who speaks in a tongue is not speaking to people but to God, since no one understands him; he speaks mysteries in the Spirit.

I generally do not comment on videos, especially on such a "controversial" topic, but I wanted to remind everyone that we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We need to treat each other with love. I also felt led to ENCOURAGE every believer to go back to the Lord and ask him. Personally, when I did this-- and I mean TRULY asked day after day with an open heart -- HE lifted the veil from my eyes and clarified some of my OWN misconceptions. But based on my journey with the Lord, SOME of the things presented in this video were confirmed for me. And other things were NOT. It is not my place to judge anyone's beliefs. I just encourage everyone, ESPECIALLY those who are "100%" sure THEY are right, to just double check with Jesus. He is our Shepherd. And a wonderful, patient teacher. He will show you the way IF you soften your heart, humble yourself, and truly want to learn. There is no doubt in my mind that when you have a relationship WITH Him and not just "head" knowledge about Him, your life will never be the same 🥰

1 Corinthians 12:30 KJV — Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

The answer is No.

Greater is he that teaches than speaks in tongues. Unless you disagree with Paul.

1 Corinthians 14:5 KJV — I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

1 Corinthians 13:1-8 KJV — Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

If ‘speaking in tongues’ is not of God, what Is it of? These people are experiencing something and they’re fully engaged in it.
