55 gallon drum vs. IBC for water storage

I recommend old water heater tanks.
They have 3/4" NPT bungs, they are portable water safe and they are usually free.

Ive got two totes in my shed. My gutters drain into them with 4 inch PVC pipes. I have irrigation going to my garden and my front porch with an old pool pump and a timer. Its badass. One or two good rains fill them both up and they last until the next rain typically.

You can add a bung to the 55 gallon drum right? I have a few of the 15 gallon drums that i have done that to.

I wonder what sort of paint to get that would work well with that IBC "milk jug" plastic? What sticks to that HDPE plastic? Chime in, if you know.

Do you think that would be too much weight say tucked in a corner of a typical garage? Been wanting to get one but possibly cracking my foundation is a concern.
