A DIY bog filter has been a gamechanger for my koi/ goldfish pond. use to have too much algae that i had to scrub out every summer. now i don't need to. i put plants, iris's and watercress in the filter

Fill nylon netted bags with different gravel sizes. More easy to clean out. Also, lava rock has great open structure for bio life. Doe not wash those bags too good.

What yly want is a slower flow that will help the beneficial bacteria more time to break down the nitrates

Стоял такой же в пруду, быстро засоряется и вода начинает течь по кроям, с промывкой проблематично, заменил на мешки сеточные и мешки с вулканической лавой для биологической очистки + сетка на тристо микрон и поступает в такое же био плато засаженое растениями, затем только в пруд, вода стала кристально чистой

Uncle Ben's 5 Minute rice has Mesh bags for Chum, maybe it could work for your ideas.

Why use rocks instead of bioballs for increased surface area?

What about the sunlight? It's going to make the top layer of rocks covered in algae that will go right into the pond immediately

why not add sponges bio ring activated charcoal and then rocks it would help get crystal clear water and also eliminate the yellowish colour with charcoal
