"Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, co-chairs of President-elect Trump’s new “Department of Government Efficiency,” are defending the tech industry’s reliance on foreign-born engineers as the incoming Trump administration prepares to crack down on immigration.

Musk and Ramaswamy both pointed to a lack of engineers stateside.

“The number of people who are super talented engineers AND super motivated in the USA is far too low,” Musk wrote in a Wednesday post on his social platform X.

When another user suggested the Tesla and SpaceX CEO was denying opportunities to Americans, Musk argued that the poster’s understanding of the situation was “upside-down and backwards.”"

As a Caucasian 77 years old. To a certain extent I can understand what they are talking about. Living in the Bay Area with large populations of Indian & Asian young people. It appears, that the bulk of the kids in those ethnic groups, win spelling bees, science fair awards. The "Honor Roll" lists are filled with these kids. Their parents stress EDUCATION &: higher learning!! Yes there are Caucasian kids, but they are usually what the kids call, "nerds"! There is also a strong work ethic they have.
I'm only relaying what I have seen in our community.

It's also a dumb argument. I'm a Dutch engineer from Europe. I will never go to the US. If i go somewhere it's a country like Luxembourg where you can get a 50% tax break for a 8 year contract with free healthcare, free education and free public transport. Microsoft and Google are in Luxembourg. I can also work for Tesla in Germany with a 30% tax break. I can work in France on fusion energy with yet again a taxbreak. In Ireland for yet again with a huge tax break. In Ireland and Luxembourg i can make more money and work for the same American tech company in the US only with 40 hour work weeks and 30 paid vacation days, plus ton of other workers rights Americans don't get. If Musk doesn't fires a Tesla worker in Germany without a valid reason they could sue him and easily win. If he denied somebody their vacation days i could sue him. Huge fines on denying people their holiday. Company administration will send you on holiday if you didn't take your vacation days. There's also thing like your boss can't call you in the weekend and other days off. Why the hell would i even think to go to America if i make more in Ireland and Luxembourg anyways?
