Why You Should Use an L-Plate for Your Camera

There are 2 types of camera plates, a conventional base plate and an L-plate. A conventional plate is just a rectangular shaped plate that mounts onto the bottom of a camera or battery grip. Where an plate wraps around the left hand side of a camera and is shaped like an L.

What exactly are the advantages of using L-Plate?

I have the L Plate on a 5dMk4 and it will be standard kit on any new bodies added to the bag. It does function as a 'bumper' more often than I expected. Another nice feature they don't mention in the video is the ability to plug in the MagPul quick release strap to hold the camera securely. (MAGPUL GEN 2 MS4 DUAL QD SLING).

Nice bracket. The desing of your tripod and ball head would hardly notice any offset force.

I bought a used camera with L-plate already on it. It seems doesn't work with my Manfrotto ball head mount. Do I need to get an adapter? Thanks!
