The Seekers - The Carnival Is Over (rare live vocal)

The live vocal from Judith Durham & the Boys lay in the vaults of a Melbourne radio station for decades, but thanks to a clear-out, it was found by one of the staff who's a fan! The audio quality wasn't great, so I've tried to improve it by using elements from the hit recording.

One of the most distinctive, pure and technically perfect voices we've ever been blessed to hear.

What a singer this girl was .... every word crystal clear, not a note out of tune, she was absolutely immaculate.

And what more can we say about this incredible song that hasn't been said a million times already.

Thank you, Judith, for reminding us that "the dawn is waiting". But we WILL meet again.

After all these years, this song still sounds absolutely amazing, deeply moving, and as fresh as on the first day it was sung.

Sadly, the Carnival is now over. 😪

As a nation, we have been truly blessed by the talents of Four very unique musicians. Thankfully, we have the technology to re-live the performances whenever we desire. ☺

She manages to sing the entire song in high notes with a lamentous tone that breaks one´s heart so poignant it is. Genius stuff. Absolutely beautiful. Judith only deserves the top superlatives. Thanks Rich.

How can a man in the late sixties not fall in love with Judith Durham! She was and is a beautiful woman. Of course she also is one of the very greatest singers of her time in a fantastic group called the Seekers!

Judith gazing into the camera and singing "Like a drum, my heart was beating / And your kiss was sweet as wine" is so evocative. It feels like she's singing right to me.

memories as an 18 year old in the Rn at the trinidad Carnival and as we left port the Captain allowed to us break ranks as he put this on the loud speakers and we waved goodbye to our friends ashore

Such a beautiful, touching song. Only the Seekers could sing it with such emotion. Thank you very much for the great clip.

Tom Springfield, Dusty’s brother, adapted the song from a Russian, Cassack, folk song. I have said before and will continue to say it, possibly the best song to finish a concert. The Seekers until their final retirement continued to close their performances with. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Cheers
