Let me add a key piece of info, in any trailer, you'll see any major even, and the feeling of the main character after that event, i dont think tom dies becuase if he did then we would see that sonic is upset to the point of greif, we however did not see that in any of the movies trailers so its safe to say that tom is alive, he however mightve been injured since the uniform he is wearing looks to be a part of GUN, and they were the only ones that knew about project shadow, also it wouldnt be surprising becuase tom was a police officer, and a good one at that
