That is actually one of the best ways to learn almost anything. You need to analyze other's work in order to understand them. As a music producer, I learned most of my knowledge through downloading other people's project files and just seeing how things work. With dedication and hardwork, you can be a master at anything using this method.

I make redstone in steps:
1= think what I wanna make
2= think how it should work
3= start placing stuff
4=have fun
optional
make mistakes and repair them

have fun with your redstone!

Seth may be the king of command blocks, but after FVDisco, and CNBMincraft have kinda fallen off the map, Mumbo is definitely the king of redstone!

The first redstoner I found was CNB. Awesome guy! I then tested around and made redstone adventure maps on the Xbox 360 way before they even came close to having hoppers, back in the day. Once I came to PC I referenced a lot of your videos Mumbo! Good times!

I got good at redstone very quickly simply by adding to the same design. For example:
-my first design was a simple piston door with a lock system, utilizing a NAND gate
-I then added a password system
-I then added an alarm and a discreet design
-then I added a trap room AND several passwords

My first complicated redstone contraption was essentially a giant cobblestone farm. I was playing on the Biospheres mod, and hollowed out one of the little ore-spheres, made a farm, and then used basically nothing but pistons and repeaters to push the blocks that were created out of the sphere and into an area where I could easily harvest it. It probably wasn't the neatest contraption, and it had a tendency to stutter every now and again, but all in all it was pretty reliable, and because I used the 12-block push limit, it basically stopped itself as soon as the cobblestone was where I wanted it to be, and then continued as I was harvesting. Again, probably not the most impressive contraption, but I was really proud of it :)

I also did a 2X2 piston door first while i was experimenting with Redstone, aaah good old days :) I miss that feeling in Minecraft now :(

It's also via Redstone that i kind of got an idea how electricity works

CNB Minecraft and his "discontinued" Bat Cave inspired me. It still impresses me to this day. You remind me of CNB quite a bit, which is a big reason why I enjoy coming back to your channel. :)
