Is this fan's direction really correct? It seems that high pressure area is inside and low pressure area is outside, so flow should be directed outside in this case.

PW JT8d, low bypass engine, the same with the British RR Spey and the Russian Kuznekov NK 8 engines, black soot on takeoff 🙂

So it's a giant high speed fan a super turbo prop. For some reason most people think the engines on commercial planes are true jet engines like on fighter planes.

Why turbines and compressors are rotating to different direction? As I see low pressure compressor and turbines are rotating to clockwise but high pressure compressor and turbines are rotating to counter clockwise. Why?

can the blades of the turbine be designed to be variable? get the advantages of a jet and turboprop, would be cool in a fighter.

Question: i’ve been watching videos lately, that describe that the majority of thrust comes from the bypass air. However, when viewing the engine from the rear, one can see visually straight through the bypass space. I don’t see where the burning of fuel and therefore thrust is being produced. Can someone help me understand this. Thank you.

So basically..or put it simply..., a turbofan engine is just a glorified turboprop engine with a cowl.😊

All aircraft new types should have of engineer operator underneath aircraft of engine operation during starting and turn off. Included of Boeing 737 Max, 777X and Airbus A220, A320 Neo, A330 Neo, and A350XWB have the two engine operators for 2 engine operations in control room under aircraft (1 engine will be worked by 1 engine operator). Exception for turboprop engine included ATR 42 & 72 and Dash 7 and 8, it's only by 1 engine operator. For Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380 in 4 engines, it's worked by 2 engine operators (2 engines for controlling by 1 operator. The engine operators will be informed by 2 pilots before flight of plane it.

It seems like if you take all the bypass air and directed through a smaller opening it would create more thrust. Just like if you were to force water through a small nozzle on a hose it would create more push back.
