My 7 year old VW Estate wont let me pull away if one of the doors is open, so what happened to this 55mil boat is mental

I made a stupid mistake at work today, cost my business €295, I don't feel so bad now😂

There has to be alarms on the bridge to show that the doors are not locked MCA requirement. Someone will be getting sued and the insurance company will be looking for negligence on the crews part.

Inexcusable. Where are the technological safeguards that should prevent such a thing from happening in the first place?

LOL. My 40k Toyota has an indicator for any open door, it even tells me which one. Why not this tub?

And this is why a sober and ultra competent crew is crucial to prevent negligence such as this.

When this yacht was launched I was brought in as Captain. It was probably the worst experience of a 36yr career dealing with the shipyard. There had been a build captain who resigned a few weeks before launch which was a huge red flag. On proving trials we lost the generators that had to be rebuilt, we had 2 electrical fires while in Palma and so many other problems it’s hard to recount them all. Throughout the shipyard were belligerent and unhelpful and the whole thing turned into a huge legal mess. 2:16

My CAR sounds an alarm when a door is open. Not a multi million dollar boat? 😅😅😅

I shared this report over coffee with yacht friends. That kept waiting for the punch line. I said, "It's not a joke." They didn't believe me. When I said, "I saw it on the internet" they nearly choked to death with laughter.

So nobody heard of the hearld of free enterprise? This is why the navy started using checklists when they began operating submarines...

The weather doesn't look threatening.

Former Airline pilot here: Don‘t tell me, there are no indications for that on the bridge!

Boat captains don’t get the respect they deserve. As a weekend boater in the Midwest, I can say from experience lives r on the line every time the boat moves. I view sea going captains in the same light as a commercial pilot.

Yacht will now be renamed "Pathos"

That side tender garage area should be a water tight compartment, same for the rear garage. Captain fault for not making sure doors are closed, should be alarms. Last year a similar partial sinking was seen due to rear garage door left open at sea on a 100 + foot yacht.

They got action on their holiday... Excitement... Unwanted, but for sure an experience for life...

This is the second “Super yacht” that I’ve heard of this week.
The other one was in Italy and happened a few days ago, I believe 5-6 people were recovered, one being a multimillionaire.
Apparently they said his super yacht was unsinkable.

Love ❤️ this video!! This one was straight to the point and was reported unbiased. The way news is supposed to be reported. I was thrilled to watch and know that my trigger finger didn’t have to be in place for the FF.

That's why I designed my megayachts with advanced system monitoring. A VMS screen would show you every single door on the vessel and whether it was open, (green), closed (blue or yellow), or secured (red) on Hull Doors, Watertight Doors, Hatches and Weathertight Doors. This would never have happened on one of my projects. Heck, you would have even seen it from the wing station mounted CCTV Pelco HD Camera. Very poor design for situational awareness.
