There is a reference to the previous X-Men movie in the series. When Bolivar Trask speaks at the Senate Committee hearing near the beginning of the movie, Trask reads from a thesis, which he says was written by a mutant at Oxford University. As he reads it, you may think the words sound familiar. That is because you will have heard a section of it. It is Charles Xavier’s thesis that he reads a part of to Raven/Mystique in the previous X-Men movie, X-Men: First Class.
