The latest Citroen C4 represents a reinvention of the model, with bold SUV-style bodywork, a sleeker roofline and a modernised interior. It’s available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines and, for the first time, an electric powertrain. In a class of big names, including the Ford Focus and VW Golf, does the new C4 meet the challenge? Richard Ingram puts it to the test to deliver the Carbuyer verdict.

Doesn't look like he has plenty of space in the back, looks like he's slumping forward because of the lack of head room.

Great review, it's Citroen doing wat they do best - quirky. Have to say though, Wen u were in the back u didn't look like u had much space Ur head and shoulders looked all hunched over mate.

If I was getting this car, I would get one of the petrol engines over the electric option as I still think there’s life left In the combustion engine cars.

I was looking through the internet last night and I found some facts about electric cars, we all know electric cars have no exhausts so thats why people think they are good for the environment, but they are not as green as you would think, here are some facts that back my statement up:

Electric cars use Lithium-ion batteries, which are much larger, and they require
several different materials, like lithium and cobalt which require a lot of energy to extract and re purpose into lithium-ion batteries.
All these materials take more energy to produce, producing electric car batteries create more greenhouse gas emissions.
Electric car production produces at least 15% more carbon emissions as the size of lithium-ion batteries get larger.
The mining of lithium is not a green activity, when an electric car rolls of the production line, it has already been responsible for more than 25, 000 lbs. of CO2, the amount of making a conventional car, it is just 16, 000 lbs. of CO2.

Most modern combustion engines come with stop/start technology and have mild hybrid assistance to improve fuel economy and reduce co2 emissions.

We are being told that petrol and diesel cars are bad for the environment and the best way to contribute to climate chnage is going electric but these articles never tells us the real facts about electric cars.

The government shouldn't increase the price of fuel this year and invest in more public transport and better, safer roads and more cycling lanes as that is the most environmently friendly way of transport and its good for people's mental and physical health, it prevents people from becoming overweight, obesity and heart disease and it won't overcrowd the hospitals which nobody wants.

I have this very identical model Shine Plus in the same colour too, mine has the 1.2 155 engine with the EAT8 box, I picked it up on the 28th May it’s now on 650 miles and every one of those miles have been enjoyable. I came from a 2019 C4 Cactus 1.2 110 EAT6.

That tablet holder only adds to the price of the car. I bet no one ever uses it.

Time seems to be showing that this is becoming an increasingly popular car - and a good one at that. Well done Citroën, getting their mojo back.

Except in Australia, where there is only ONE variant. Yep, no options, no engine choice, no different spec levels. A$42, 000 £22, 000+

Who needs a Car with a Track lowered Suspension in London with pot holes and Endless Speed bumbs 🤔
.
Comfort is Everything, comfort also saves you money In Repairs, as Crushing in to potholes with lowered hard suspension is not the same as gliding over them

Nice looking car, would love one of these in 1.2t petrol 130hp in either manual or auto in the top two trims, be great if they had heated seats an steering wheel but not sure if they do as standard in the top two trims
