I knew a couple who had a border collie in an apartment and got mad at the dog for herding the kids. Thankfully they saw sense and rehomed it, but hell, do research before you get a dog.

I am amazed at the amount of people that get working dog breeds then get mad when the dogs get bored and act out. They were bred to perform a job, not be your accessory.

I think that working dogs are the happiest dogs. They usually get to be outside in the fresh air a lot, they spend a lot of time with their human, they are doing what they are literally born to do and they get a lot of praise and attention from their human, which makes them happiest of all!

I ended up leaving my blue heeler with my grandad on the farm just so Buddy could help him with the cows. I was going off to college and I knew he would be happier! Best decision ever plus I went to see him almost every weekend!❤

I have a catahoula. We live in an apartment, but he can't do work because he is epileptic. We go on long walks daily unless if he has a seizure, and on the weekends, I put him to work by searching for scented duck toys at the park. He loves it. But his favorite thing is sitting on his perch at the window and watching all the commotion below. He will walk up to me and talk to me about it, then I will go to his window and point at things, and he tells me about it some more.
No, it's not what he was made to do, but it works for us, and with the proper medication, he is a happy and loved boy.

I love my 2 cattle dogs. They make me get up everyday and go on adventures.
