I like that it’s a standalone account that’s easy to use and access. There are better accounts but I do like having my savings completely separate from my checking so I’m less likely to dip into it.

You’re right, the interest rate didn’t stay at 4.15% for long. It briefly went to 4.07%, then has been at 4.25%, then 4.35%, and now 4.5% for months. Best savings account I’ve ever had. Don’t spend money you don’t have, never carry a balance, and pay your bill on time and it’s a no brainer.

I’ve made almost three thousand dollars, no strings attached, in rewards and interest since getting the Apple Card. Anyone who doesn’t recommend this setup has an ulterior motive or had some off the wall experience.

I use it as a convenient, high yield savings account only that isn’t as cumbersome as a CD as far as liquidity. The Apple card works fine, but I pay it off each billing cycle to make sure interest is only paid one way-to me. So, if I can’t afford to pay for something, I don’t get it. That lesson was learned the hard way.

I have mine set up where the cashback from the Apple card just gets deposited into the savings account as a kind of out of sight out of mind kinda savings, So that is something to consider. I have most of my subscriptions coming out from it, so I might as well get a little kickback for it (if you use the Apple card with the subs you get the 3% cash back) but if you are an advance Credit card user you probably have your CC daily driver anyway. This is a great review tho, a lot of people dont realize you have to have the Apple card to get the savings account so thats a good shout out.

The compounding frequency is irrelevant when discussing APY. That is literally the difference between APR and APY. APY gives the result after compounding, regardless of the frequency.

Something that I don’t like about Apple savings account is the fact that you need to have an iPhone (no MacBook) to access and view your savings. That’s why I’m switching to Amex Savings and ditching Apple savings.
