Not many people realize that OJ Simpson's real first name, Orenthal, is of mighty Celtic origin, and is said to mean “pine tree.” A competing etymology says it may be a variant of the Germanic name Orendel, meaning “morning star.” Either way, it's a word closely related to nature and the northern wilderness. Naming your boy Orenthal may instill in him a love of flora and fauna, such as the strangling vine and the black widower.
