Just drove from Covington Ga to Minneapolis, MN to Hastings, MN to Millersburg, OH. Still trucking and stacking 😊

The old "I just like to travel" myth has nothing to do with why people don't prefer working a 9-to-5.

People don't want to work a 9-to-5 because it's mostly a waste of time that eats up about half a day when you add prep and commute time.

It also shouldn't be 5 days a week. The 5 day 8 hours a day format is based on assembly plants. Most jobs aren't in a factory or assembly plant, so it was a ridiculous standard from the start. 😳

I’m done with how the matrix is set up, so I cut my expenses as much as I possibly can. I work part-time when I need to. Being debt-free and having an emergency fund is essential to breaking free from the system.

I work Monday thru Thursday. 4/10s. I also have my own business. Hopefully one day my business will generate enough income for me to quit my full time job.

I worked three 12 hour shifts per week at one job with 4 days off. I worked five 8 hour shifts per week at another job with 2 days off. I had colleagues who worked 16 hour shifts 2 days a week and had 5 days off a week. I preferred the 12 hour shifts with more days off. All jobs were full-time with benefits.😊

I think the biggest problems with 9-5s is most require you to work 40hr typically 5 day work weeks, it is very rare in modern jobs, especially in higher level salaried positions or jobs that require a degree you’ll get a part time position or something like 3 10s or 3 12s if it’s supposed to be full time, that gives you that extra flexibility and extra time to actually have a life outside of work without feeling to tired to even do something for fun when your off. Not to mention if you get a gig with part time the pay is usually low, no benifits, schedule all over the place, sometimes you still end up working 5 days and wished you had the 40hrs to make it worth it. It’s very rare you can find a job that lets you work 3 or 4 shifts or even 2 and let you get a bunch of hours.Companies know that scheduling people 5 8s is usually the most cost effective method and helps them lower the amount of personnel they need to staff a business, it’s just the sad truth.

When my Grandfather was of working age in the 30’s and 40’s, he worked 6 days in an office. Saturday was the customary day off. This was the case for about 300 years and only ended toward the end of the 40’s with new labor laws. Compared to history, we live in a golden age for labor.

What you are describing exists and is called a sabbatical. Blue collar jobs don't offer them, typically higher skilled and higher paying positions offer them. That's a benefit of the hard work put in to becoming a physician or tenured professor.
I split from 9-5 about ten years ago when I decided to work in health care. There are lots of 12 hour schedules which means only 3 days of working per week. There are other work fields like oil and gas field work that can offer a schedule like 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
Temp agencies are expensive. They take their cut of wages earned.

I think the problem in one of the solutions you brought up is most staffing companies cost more per employee than actually hiring an employee l so most businesses don’t use staffing companies. And typically staffing companies hire anyone, people with no experience, people on work visas, people with felonies. So you usually productivity takes a hit as well as reliability. So it’s hard to believe a business would want to spend that extra money just to give an employee time off, and take those risk on production and reliability. Most companies just treat you like a number and hire as little employees as possible. It’s hard to believe that most companies would hire a staffing agency unless they desperately needed help, especially if it’s just to give employees vacations😂 your lucky if you can even get a job that pays decent and has benifits in the first place, and that doesn’t mean you’ll still enjoy the job at hand enough to want to keep it if the workload is big and the people suck.

What does working a 9-5 have anything to do with traveling? It’s called paid vacation. They literally pay you to do w.e you want. 4 months off? Hahahahahaha life isn’t elementary school

Yeah there's a way for sure imo.
Pay for your own life so that you don't need an employer/Govt. to pay for your existence.
Talk is cheap
