Will I Survive Extreme Winter Camping at -30 outside with the wind chill ? Mike from The Emporium Outdoors wanted to meet up and head out camping...... What was I thinking

Welcome to this weeks video of extreme winter camping as this is my first time entertaining the idea of -30 camping, not sure what i was thinking but here we go. To stay warm in this extreme weather i'm using my Russian bear market 2 up mini hot tent with wood stove. I also have my DIY diesel heater set up to keep me warm. This was going to be a test as the Canadian winter isn't letting up and that wind is blowing.

Nice vid. Mike is a good dude. I bet them socks and insoles are real warm. Looked like fun. Coldest I ever camped was 10 degrees Fahrenheit with no heater in a tent. Coldest I ever slept.

I like camping in the winter. We were elk hunting in Co. and at about 10K ft with a summer tent with no heat. It wasn't bad 20 deg at night and 40-50 during the day. At least until a storm came in and dumped 24" of snow and the temps dropped to zero (F). Hell, we had to cut a trail to the fire pit, meat pole and even the shitter, lol. A lot of work, but I was 34 then so not nearly as big of a deal as it would be today, 20 yrs later. Anyway, glad you had the wood stove, only way to go (get the damper installed damn it). Maybe take the beer in a cooler bag next time, will insulate it to stay liquid a bit longer. So what is the attraction with this hobby? It looks fairly uncomfortable to be that cold.

Awesome trip, probably blocked air intake, this may help. E05 - Overheat. Check air intake is not restricted at rear of heater, check fan is not impeded. Ensure that the installed heat vent is not blocked / restricted. Also check that heating duct has not been crushed, thus restricting air flow.

Just a suggestion but I put some insulation under your Diesel heater box helps big time also a little treatment on the D fuel, helped me big on my trip north Thanks

Carbon monoxide detector needs to be down low by the floor. The gas will be lower and the fire alarms need to be what is at the higher point as heat and smoke rise.

I remember that twice in my life camping in the Rockies at 30 below zero, I heard someone say in ALMOST the exact same words;
"THIS is the best time of year to go camping because it's so beautiful. With the campfire going and the ice crystals in the sky it looks like billions and billions of diamonds and the Stars twinkling overhead, you don't know where the icy Stars end in the real stars begin."
I heard those same words twice!!! they were not from a man either time; they were both from women!!! :-) go girls!!!

Awesome video man but just in case you don't know if as another person has mentioned in comments lol a friendly tip that carbon monoxide is a solid so it will drop to the ground and build up there for your detector should be close to the ground 🤗

i have to run my diesel heater on the lowest setting or it also over heats try runing it on low and then slowly turn the heat up over time and if it over heats mark that point and dont go hotter

What does your friend make of the mullwalkie saw. As a farmer I’d be interested. Cold weather doesn’t affect us so not a problem in Ireland
