You were right about programming issues if you use the CAN bus wires from the CIC unit rather than the idrive knob. I wanted to enable HD radio the other day with NCS expert and I couldn’t read/write the CIC until I pulled out the harness going to the CarPlay box.

Great video. I did the CIC retrofit 4 years ago having a 2008 e92 335. Was a huge upgrade at the time. Finding a good console trim took months, eventually from the Uk, buying a complete interior trim set. Was worth it. May consider this unit next, need CarPlay. Only I see there are new full android units with wireless CarPlay and hi res displays now. Not sure but this looks good👍🏻

Currently have a 2007 E92 335i with the CCC + Logic7 system, if i wanted android auto/carplay with the best possible audio quality(equal to stock or better), would you recommend going to a CIC upgrade + this box, or straight for a android head unit?

Also, thanks for your videos, i started watching when you received the 17ts and i am probably going to get those for mine when the rattle has finished annoying me.

Hi I've just done a retrofit on mine but found one annoying issue.. whenever the headlights turn on the screen display dims.. headlights are set on auto so sometimes they'll turn on in the day when it's very overcast but makes viewing the screen really difficult! Any ideas how I can get rid of this automated screen dimming? Thanks!
