Chicago Transit Authority's hit from their self titled first album. This is the full version with the piano intro by Robert Lamm. Unlike the radio edits, this is the full song as it should be played. Enjoy!

True story: years ago, I worked in an office with a 20-something receptionist; the rest of us were in our 40s and 50s. All the clocks in the office were out of sync, and - quite unknowingly - the receptionist asked "Does anybody really know what time it is?" Everybody else chimed in "Does anybody really care?" We instantly had to explain that we weren't being mean; just quoting song lyrics.

Hard to believe, but this entire album was recorded in only 3 days. Talent like this band had in spades can't be denied. That spring when this album came out I was a junior in high school. This song never grows old. Love it now as much as I did back then.

I'm 50 now and I remember my Dad playing this in the car on the AM radio. Yes, I am blessed.

My mom passed away last Thursday. I remember when I was a kid my parents and their friends would hang out at our house and play cards and listen to Chicago. This song always sticks out to me. Since then I’ve always listened and loved Chicago. Today this music has never meant so much to me.

Some songs are just meant to be left alone, as they can't be improved upon. This is one of them.

I'm a Northside Chicago girl... Grew up w/this... Thank God bc I shared it with my son... Chicago has been the soundtrack for all of our road trips. Because of this.. My son, now 25 is a successful sound engineer, travels the world, & wen he's home he's in the studio... He's living the dream... Thank you, Chicago... You're gift to us.. created my son's dream come true!! Love you forever!

So innocent people see this guy with a watch and ask him for the time and then he just casually puts them into an existential crisis.

Nothing better than cranking up Chicago tunes and singing along to them.

I have heard this song many times on the radio. Never have I heard the entire song with the piano intro. This put the song into a completely new perspective for me. The trumpet (beginning) makes far more sense now. Makes a great song even better.

I grew up listening to this song and for years I didn't know who sang it. As an adult, I finally learned it was Chicago. Eventually, I bought one of Chicago's Greatest Hits CD. People must have thought I was crazy driving down the street, blasting this song and loudly singing it in the 21st century. It will never go out of style to me.

For those wondering, the musicians are lead vocalist-keyboardist Robert Lamm, guitarist Terry Kath, bassist Peter Cetera, drummer Daniel Seraphine, trumpeter-backing vocalist Lee Loughnane, woodwind player-backing vocalist Walter Parazaider, and trombonist James Pankow.

I notice every comment is on the song and not anyone raising hell and bothering anyone else on here.
that's like a testament to good music and good music listeners.

Chicago Transit Authority, and Blood Sweat and Tears we're phenomenal in the sixties and seventies. Exceptional musicians that kept the pace that other groups in that era could not reach. A fusion of Blues, jazz, funk with a Twist, and sometimes a simple ballad. They were hard hitters to say the least.

The background harmony: "I don't care about time, no no".  So good.

This version is rarely if ever played on any radio station or internet music site. What a pity.
