Garden Catastrophe Restoration | Watch us Transform this Jungle

Have I got a good one for you today. The lady who lives here is disabled, is in a wheelchair and is really just unable to tend to her garden. I went around to have a look at the place and did a quote for the homeowner. Although the quote came in over her budget, I was able to do a deal with her and get the job done. As you will see from the video, it is quite an amazing transformation. All up we spend around 11 hours on this job with 4 trips to the landfill.

Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Nick (shorts).

FAQ's:

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.

Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.

Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.

Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.

Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!

Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️

Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.

Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.

Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.

Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

I love gardening!!! I have Spina bifida & discs that are bulging, herniated, bone spurs, major, chronic whiplash injuries from 22 years. I can walk with a cane & I garden on my hands & knees or sit on the ground. I love the fresh air, sunshine, talking to my neighbours, praying for people & meditating in my mind. I do it for my neighbours too. No charge. If they don't mind my slow pace then I will plant, prune, whatever. These guys are making an incredible difference in the lives of these people. God bless!!!

Awesome transformation of what was once a much loved garden. The shrubs were beautiful, as well as the view of the mountains. Now the disabled lady can get out & enjoy it all. I'm sure she is so grateful to you two! Hope she can now have weekly maintenance done. Thanks for helping her.

Extremely labor-intensive job but you can see that at one time it was a lovely garden. Thank you for helping this disabled lady out. The transformation is stunning!

Just WOW! I believe you have helped this homeowner more than you know. Being able to spend time outside not only improves mental health but also physical health and you've just made it so much easier for them to spend enjoyable time around the yard or sitting with friends or family on the patio. Priceless. You guys rock. 🤘What a blessing!

The days are gone when your neighbours would give you a helping hand, A big thumbs up to the guys for doing the job under budget.

It was obviously once a well cared for garden. What a gift you have given the lady, to be able to get out into her garden again and make use of it in her wheelchair, it will do her mental health wonders. I hope she can now afford to keep it maintained now that you have done the heavy work. I often wonder though, where are the friends, family or neighbours of these people in need of help.

I have a landscaper that comes every week to my home. I have to say they are the hardest working people. I love seeing my landscaper Carlos and his crew. He always goes above and beyond for me.
So much respect for their dedication and hard work to these guys. Hats off to ya. 🧑‍🌾🏡

You two are “Lawn-care Beasts. That transformation - reclamation was a joy to watch. I particularly liked the small touches you guys did, like taking away the appliances from the deck and getting the weeds out of the gutter. That speaks volumes about your attention to detail and work ethic. I’ll watch your videos as long as you put them out there. Thanks. BR from South Carolina, USA

Even if she's not able to get around like she used to, I bet stepping outside or even taking a look out gives a feeling of order, accomplishment, and puts her at ease. Great job!

Racking up all of that excess grass and weeks. Some don't do that, they just throw it up in the yard and then run over it with the mower. This is a wonderful job Quick Cuts.

That was a very through and detailed transformation on this property. Can you imagine that property when the owner was able to maintain her gardens. It might have been the best looking in the neighborhood. You guys have done an amazing restoration. Thanks for all the hard and detailed work.

I love how you even got the weeds out of the gutter at the end - you don't miss a trick! Great work 👍🏼

I am very happy for the lady that you have invested so much work to make the property drivable again for you. Very good work ! I just wish for her that maybe someone from the neighborhood would agree to weed her many flower beds, which she must have loved, and to plant new flowers. But I think it's like in Germany, there is nobody who dares or wants to do the work. There are not many selfless people in the world. The lady once had a really beautifully landscaped garden and you brought it back to light with all the work you did.

Mammoth job done beautifully!
Owners must be in shock at the transformation.
It was amazing to see the garden edges appear as the jungle was cleared.
Time for a cuppa! Or a beer!
