The digital movement is flipping society head over heels, and Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, The Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital conference, came to 92Y to on Oct 10 to talk with Eric Schmidt about Google, Microsoft and more.

Fortune has a good rundown of Schmidt quotes:

"The Android-Apple platform fight is the defining fight in the industry today."
"Microsoft is a well-run company, but they don't make state-of-the-art products."
"We're trying to solve material problems in the world. Judge us by our solutions."
"It's really an error that we [i.e. humans] are allowed to drive the car."
"Apple decided a long time ago to do their own maps ... [now they've] discovered that maps are really hard."
"Apple should have kept with our maps."
"I can't talk about [standards-essential patents] because I don't know the details and because it actually just gets me too upset."
"These patent wars are death."
"I was on Apple's board, and I'll always have a soft spot for them."

Not to necessarily come to their defense, but I've really enjoyed the interviews with Walt and Kara. Both seem knowledgeable, have roots in the industry, and while they like to push their guest a little, remain entertaining throughout.

Kara the thing you miss about Apple abandoning Google maps is they didn't care about the customer. Subsequently, I left iphone and bought the Samsung Galaxy 3 and have never looked back.

The interviewers really need to stop interrupting him when he speaks. The purpose of the engagement is the dissemination of his knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

If you flip horizontally each character of "92Y", you get "PSY". Just a dumb observation.

Kara Swisher can be replaced with some many people who'd do a better job than her
