“So the bind becomes this game of *loud sword noises* with weakness” but in all seriousness this absolutely love this video

Its good to know that all this time, dramatic binds in anime fights were actually legit techniques and not just theatrics 😂

Very interesting. I’m Muay Thai fighter, and the concept of measuring how much pressure your opponent is putting into blade is similar to how I probe to see how much weight my opponent has on the lead leg. If they’re heavy, I kick it hard, if they’re light I move the leg out of the way.

Just a quick correction on how to pronounce “Zornhau”. The z is pronounced more like a ts in tsunami for example- just a random German stopping by

The last 10 seconds should be in a medieval fantasy show.

If it weren’t for the sound I wouldn’t have known they were sword fighting

Fühlen in the bind is much more pronounced when the swords are sharp and actually bund together. Also strong or weak in that bind can be a simple consequence of leverage based on where on the respective blades have bound.
When acting “Indes” to the fuhlen in the bind Lichtenauer laid out the Hauptstucke for the responses to said bind.

I’ve been wondering what you thought about the Carian Knight set! It’s one of my favorites.

I remember seeing a video like a month ago where the cliché clash with close faces of the opponents was spoken about as movie theatrics, but if it was treated as dynamically as in real life, it would make for some interesting combat scenes. Then today I actually saw that happen in Game of Thrones and here you are talking about it. Pretty cool subject.

Great tips. I'll use them to choreography fights. Tyvm

To be true to the facts with Blunt swords there's only open binds. Weapons with an edge give way more information because they bite into eachother and really bind.

Would love to hear more about the interaction of edge on edge with sharps, but understandably that's not as safe to demonstrate.

I think I've heard that sharp swords will stick together and not slide in a bind as the edges bite into each other. Am I mistaken?

Fucking love watching/hearing you give sword/fencing tactics, also was swordsman-ship meant more for combat as opposed to fencing being a more.."traditional" sport of stabbing and poking? Lol

I guess I compare fencing more to dueling with pistols that have training rounds? All the show of fighting but none of the danger.
