I'll give you an example of the silent generation vs. the boomer generation. My father's parents were in the silent generation. they sold their home to my father so he and my mother could have a home for their family. My grandparents moved into an apartment up the street from us.
Now fast forward and my parents are boomers and divorced. my father could not sell the family home off fast enough so he move out of state and build a brand new house for himself and his new wife. Not a thought in the world about me or my brother and our futures. That is the critical difference between the generations. The silent generation tried to help the next generation get a leg up for the future and the boomers are the most selfish self-centered people I've ever met in my life. They couldn't give a rat's ass if everybody was sleeping on the streets as long as they had theirs, including their children.

The absentminded whistle was by far the best and absolutely most apropos part of the entire video

This woman is like every evil hippie. Will present as peaceful and loving but not too far behind that there will be a condescending or passive aggressive motive.

My Grandfather is 91 (the Silent Generation) he has 11 younger siblings most whom are boomers. The difference is striking. He is stoic they are selfish. Tim is spot on.

She reminds me of the judge who presided over the Salem Witch Trials and had to escape in the middle of the night when he was accused of being a warlock himself.

My boomer in laws decided my 30th birthday after having two children back to back was going to be spent literally getting feces all over me and feeding my husbands grandmother who was 97 and completely senile because “I just had two kids so I wasn’t doing anything anyway” and without even saying anything to me decided to book a gig for their band literally all weekend. When they got back after the next was Mother’s Day- she demanded we celebrate HER by having my husband spend all day making HER a giant strawberry planter shelving area in HER yard while I took care of my new baby and 1 year old.
Honestly I thought about divorce both of these days. I never even got a thanks. They came home at 9pm and told me I could go out and celebrate my birthday now since they were home now… with my two small children.. because they didn’t FEEL like watching them .

My boomer dad sold our house and all the rest of his property in '08 and now lives in a friend's townhome for free while paying for two storage units. I lost it when he started monologuing at 8AM about his roommate not having enough furniture, as I sit here with all my appliances broken and my landlord raising the rent again.

People are referring to me as an agist when I talk poorly about the boomers generation. Glad there is a platform of like minded people. Thank you Tim

The only thing sadder than a trust fund baby is the child of a trust fund baby. I've seen so many boomers who lived on a trust fund and then had kids. Kids who never saw them go to work and expected that life was going to be the same for them. NOPE. Trust fund babies don't leave trust funds.

I used to work with a nasty Boomer lady who didn't realize that her laptop mic was live when we had company wide Zoom meetings. She would sit there talking trash about everyone else but we thought it was so funny that we never told her

My mom is a baby boomer that had her first son young so he’s a GenX and my brother and I older so we’re millennials. So my family has three generations represented and out of all of us she’s the least like the stereotype. She’s incredibly selfless and has very little from giving it away and helping us out and still does all the time with her “fixed income.”

It should be noted that she was the black sheep of her family and all her siblings are the exactly the stereotypes of their generation. She’s never really had any friends and says that she’s never really fit in with people her age. I’ve come to realize why.

They were first brought up into early adulthood with the culture break of the 60’s so they developed an appetite for justice and social change. They were aware of cultural failings and were told by the media, especially music, to fight back and refuse to be victimized by “the man.” But then something funny happened.

The economy kept growing in a way no nation had ever experienced in the history of the species but they were born at the very beginning of that, so all they ever knew was growth. They had no conception of the hard times and effort it took to build that and they were then marketed a lifestyle focused on self pleasure and wealth. Bigger houses, bigger cars, bigger status. This is when the decision to ship the job market to China happened because all that mattered was “more.” But specifically, “more for me.”

The thing is they never lost that sense of injustice and social outrage. The need for cultural change. So what you ended up with is the most entitled, indulgent generation in history. They lost all perspective. The injustice they thought they were fighting against was that the neighbors had the NEW Cadillac.

This is why you had the asinine moral outrages throughout the 80’s and 90’s. They were still expecting to be offended and oppressed but they were doing so on the top of a pyramid of gold.

People think when successful they will reduce suffering, but really they have shown they increase victimhood. We fear responsibility more than suffering, and victimhood is a ploy to escape from responsibility.
