It’s very 50/50 internally at MS, a lot of the older guys don’t like it and honestly I really only use it for help generating unit tests or on the off chance it has a semi useful suggestion which is not very often 😂

The first concern can be fixed by shoveling them more money and paying for business copilot with its own privacy terms, but I’d rather them keep training on my garbage so others have job security from the AI overlords.

The only reason I use AI while coding is to help me with syntax when writing in a language I am not really familiar with

ive had it just absolutely obliterate hundreds of lines of code at the bottom of a huge file so im sketched to ask it for anything. but the autocomplete is very nice

"Just code completion" is not a strong enough argument to recommend a code generator tool.
I would ask, how have your coding habits changed by using the tool? Do yo feel your skill has improved by using it? Has it helped you find errors in your code?

generate some extremely common scaffolding: tick, slightly more intelligent (maybe) autocomplete: tick

We are developers we give our code out open source anyways. I hope they train on my code and copilot works better for others.

Haven't used it but I would have no trust in it. You either write your own code or have to review others' code. I worry too many people will become reliant on it, although for many bad programmer Copilot might produce better code than them.

If you're a pro and just want autocomplete, go ahead. If you've got less than 5 years experience, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot by taking away important learning opportunities.
