Pair Programming With GitHub Copilot and React | Practical Examples

In today's video, I'll be pair programming with GitHub Copilot, GitHub's AI Pair Programming Software.

Watch as we build a React App together and as Copilot literally writes 90% of the code.

I'll also give my thoughts on whether our developer jobs are in danger because of AI solutions like Github Copilot.

GitHub Copilot is still in technical preview and you will have to get signup on the waiting list to get access. Once it's granted, you can use it with VSCode.

It wont replace programmers, but when it's more mature and widely adopted it will give programmers a speed advantage, so you would not be as competitive if you weren't using it (or something like it). Ironically programmers have constantly faced this issue, as upskilling and using the fastest tools and patterns available has always given people the edge in the industry. Nothing new in that sense, just a fancy autocomplete that still requires a trained expert human.

Technically you dont need to re-fetch the data, calling the "setNotes" should update your state without the necessity of calling the API again.

What would be better is an AI debugger rather than a fancy auto complete tool. The presumption here of course is that the Github copilot will auto write code that's bug free. I doubt that will be the case.

Is vscode with copilot better than intellij idea?

Personally it would just annoy me if it's wrong so much of the time. To me it looks like it would introduce many more bugs than it would prevent.
