If they have Shaw, Kielskowski, and the Stoltmen, then the comp will be as legit as it can possibly be.

That said, I’m not unsympathetic to event organisers. This year has been a complete nightmare and for companies such as giants live who will rely on event ticket sales as one of their main revenue streams, this will have really hurt. I hope they’re able to recover and prosper.

I think, regardless of who competes, if 2020 WSM can go ahead, then it should.

It should ONLY go ahead if the big athletes can go. If it’s USA and a couple of European athletes that’s not good enough. Can you imagine Shaw winning his 5th against the weakest field ever? Would be sad.

I don't care what people say, but if most of the guys won't be able to compete due to corona and we'll end up with only Americans/Canadians, this WILL NOT be a legit WSM title to whoever wins it.

I'm actually excited to see some new guys on the big stage, ok the standard might not be as good but tbh the standard has been lower for the last few years anyway and at least some new guys will get a chance.

There will be a dark cloud over whoever wins if all the top guys can't compete, brian shaw could have an easy 5th if it's a weak field.

Go ahead with the comp as planned. If Brian wins his 5th due to a weak field, so be it. Can't help if several people retired, several others got injured, and this bullshit virus puts us in this situation. I just want to watch some STRONGMAN LETS GO

So stupid they did not invite Rauno Heinla, but they invited Robert oberst :S

It will go ahead in Florida, Florida is actually one of the better states in the US when it comes to local lockdowns. Unlike California where they’ve been locked down for over 6 months.

Loz get ready buddy this could be your chance to snatch that title! WSM and Arnold Classic only big ones you never won

it is what it is, but even if it's bad, it's not the first time in history, we will get over this. There was a time when IFSA split from WSM then went bankrupt .. there were a couple of years when we don't really know who really deserved the crown

I'm pretty sure Florida is letting people in now I hope all the athletes get their shot at WSM

2020 will be the year of the paper champions. That’s just how it is. Nothing anyone can do about it.
I would say that at least we’ve had and will have comps to watch but it’s strongman so Christ knows when we’ll actually get to see it.

Out of respect for the sport, if the worst happens, it should be renamed the WSM US open or sth like that.
Calling it the WSM, same as calling this year's Europe's ESM is disrespectful to the actual majority of serious contenders that wouldn't make it.
But WSM isn't known for its integrity, is it?

Hey Loz, I’m not sure if he is already on the list or not, but if not I know one from the states that I’d love to see in it. And that is Travis Ortmayer. Been seeing some of his comeback in SCL and he is really getting back into the groove!
He was always fun to watch and if they are still in need of good back up I’d Travis would be PERFECT!
Plus what better to get the wind beneath his wings again and get that redemption than to be invited to WSM again.
Thoughts?

Athletes can travel for sport providing the organisers take the precautions that are being asked of them:

2 week quarantine on arrival to the states
Testing
Quarantine on return

Are IMG planning on flying the international athletes out 2 weeks prior to the competition and making it possible for them to quarantine for 2 weeks? I highly doubt it. If the competition is only running over the course of a couple of days and IMG were planning on flying the athletes out for a total of lets say 7 days, then those athletes will likely be denied entry. It’s going to be interesting to see how this pans out.

The thing is that as sad as the 80% Americans on the line up would be for world's it's not their fault, so all they can do is get ready for the day. That being said, any other sport would cancel a Word Championship under this conditions, unfortunately moments like this remind us that WSM is more of a TV show than a proper competition, and money will speak louder than the integrity of the sport. I have mixed feelings about this, I want it to happen, but I also don't want if it is fated to be a mess. There is one more thing to it, there will probably be no crowd this year, therefore no leaked footage, therefore we will have to wait until Christmas if you live in UK, if not than you will have to wait a lot more. This really shows how much WSM is stuck on the past and how much more professional the Arnold Classics and WUS are compared to WSM

If they take this opportunity from brain after seeing all the hard work he's been putting in I'll be pissed.
