lil helpful tip here ! if you are adopting a new pet, try buying a medicine syringe for your pet and every few days or so fill the syringe with something like a treat (i use mashed bananas for my rabbit) so if your pet ever needs medication from a syringe, they won't try to avoid it because they'll associate the syringe with treats :) hope this helps (ty for 2.5k!)

Tip from a person that's raised 15 kittens:
Do not introduce your kitten into a large space in your home immediately. Isolate your kitten in a small room like a bathroom so it can feel 'safe' and less overwhelmed, and allow them to WANT to explore.

Edit: I should mention, you dont just leave the cat in there alone! Spend as much time in there as possible. Eat on the floor, read, play switch, whatever. If you have another room that is also small, like a small bedroom, this is also good. But bathrooms are usually the perfect size.

Tip about the scratching, next time you see her scratching on furniture, pick her up and bring her to her cat scratcher, then move her paws up and down the scratcher to simulate her scratching it, it worked wonders on my kitten when I got the idea!

This is a tip for future cute kitten owners when u want to bathe them, grab them with a flannel or small towel so they dont scratch you and instead of putting them directly under the tap, use a cup and pour water slowly on them, make it as relaxing as possible and go slowly, they will panic but the more calm you are the clamer they will get 🙏 ❤️

Quick tip for bathing! When you have to bathe a kitten, you should introduce them to all of the materials you will use. Also, before you let the kitten into the bathroom, have the faucet already running with warm water so they aren’t startled and turn into panic/survival mode when they hear it turn on. Let the kitten play with the water, and then slowly and soothingly bather them, using soft coos and words help. If you’re lucky, the kitten will actually stay calm in your hands, if not, they still will express their dislike for the bath, but they will be much less stressed and make things easier for both the kitty and the owner!

I didn't look for a cat, my cat looked for me. I found this little kitten abandoned and scared in a street in the city centre, a black tiny cat in a dark night. I asked him 'what are you doing here on your own?', he jumped on my shoulder and came home with me! He's almost 20yo now, my best friend, my son with a tail, my biggest love!

Not only is this video great but the comments are a wealth of information. Thank you and everyone who has contributed tips in the comments! I may be getting one or two kittens tomorrow and I've never owned a cat in my life.

Pro tips from someone who lived her entire life with cats:
- NEVER such bleach on a space where you cat peed, specially on spaces where you don’t want them to pee again because they love the smell of bleach, use sanytol instead
- teach them to go into their “cage” to go to the vet while they’re kittens by leaving their comfort items in it ( blankets, toys, catnip etc.. ) so you don’t struggle once you have to put them in
- put just a little tiny bit of catnip or bleach into their litter box when they’re little to teach them to pee in it
- get them used to have your finger in their mouth so you don’t struggle with giving them meds ( life changing I swear )
- also this is basic but PLEASE RESPECT THEIR BOUNDARIES, if you cat doesn’t want cuddles, let them be, if they wanna be alone let. Them. Be.

I highly recommend getting 2 kittens together! We previously adopted a single female kitten and we encountered a lot of the problems you did as well. The second time around, we adopted 2 kittens from the same litter and they keep each other company and get a lot of their energy out by playing with each other! They've learned that biting and scratching hurts each other so they rarely scratch or bite us :)

Additional tips for others. If she had fleas, should’ve given her a bath first thing you brought her home. Then let her acclimate to a confined space such as the bathroom or bedroom before introducing her to the entire house. Cats aren’t like dogs, they feel more secure the longer they stay in a space.

The previous owner sounds so problematic/irresponsible. Did not spay/neuter cats, let kittens roam around & get fleas, says the kitten isn't "cute". Wth. That kitten is cute AF.

You’re making me realize how lucky I am with the kitty I found. She’s so easy going and I hardly have any problems with her going to the bathroom outside her box or her biting. She never chews on anything outside of her toys. She cuddles at night. She’s the sweetest thing. I found her in July. She was estimated to be 8 weeks and was feral. She was totally sick, full of worms and flea ridden. I got all the medicine with research and now she’s totally healthy and happy. I’m not a cat guy in the slightest, but this little girl won my heart. I don’t even have a name for her yet. I was considering “Velcro” simply because she needs to be near me when I’m home.

Facts on everything. I learned a lot getting my second cat. I’m mad the owner called the cat “not cute” like tf...

Also be veryyyy careful letting your kitten chew chords. Lots of cats end up in the hospital for that. She’s a kitten so rn is perfect time to tell her “no”. If not it gets worse.

honestly, cat beds are a scam, cuz I'll buy a 75 dollar bed and my cat will still want to sleep on our 18 egg carton.

Gosh...the original owner is so irresponsible. Not spaying/ neutering the cats and fleas?!!! Terrible!

Im finally getting a kitten, I’ve literally been begging my parents since I was 3 years old after petting a cat for the first time (now 15) and after meeting him I became so obsessed with him I literally fell in love as soon as I laid eyes on him, so im preparing everything and educating myself just so I could make his environment comfortable and make him happy in general, im so excited 😆😆
