i just finished a whole ass degree in computer science that i literally hated since the first day, my parents didn't let me switch to another one bc we didn't have the money and i had to stick to it, you don't know how depressed i was going to school, waking up everyday was a burden, i did it just for them, i thought finish it would be the end of it, but no, now my parents are telling me i need to found a job in this, i- i don't know how to tell them that i'm not planning working in this... the degree is for them, not for me. im sorry for the venting, i needed it. coding is not for everyone neither is STEM

Yes man. Programming sucked the fucking soul out of me. The CS degree was actually interesting because I was learning about loads of interesting concepts, but then actual software development in a company is fucking drole. Stand-up. Bug. Ticket. Code. Stare at bad screen all day so I can stare at good screen at home. The fucking "we are more than a company we are a family" culture is just so OTT. I'm here for the money that's it, I hate coding and I need to gtfo asap. I never would've even ended up in this ass industry if it wasn't for my parents lmao

There is alot of hype around coding. Many YouTube coding influncers push coding as being this sexy thing. But Software development is hard. And the technologies change continously... Which makes for a hell of an experience, the fact that you need to learn every single day of your life. It starts to get on my nerves. The fact that you can't really become an expert in one technology becasue it will be absolite overnight. I feel that I was lied to by all this "LEARN TO CODE" trend...

I like coding. However, I hate working as a programmer. It adds so much stress and makes me hate it.

I left coding and web design in 2018. Yes it's great pay but NO LIFE. Now I work in furniture assembly and repair.

I just got a job as an associate java developer and I’m already sick of it. I hate this. I get so depressed imagining me doing this for the rest of my life. Stuck in an office with a bunch of other depressed devs, staring at a screen is not the life I want to live. There are many devs out there that are pretending to like software development. Honestly, they would stop coding if it made them no money.
At this point, I honestly do not know what to do anymore.... I was thinking UX Design but I’ll have to do more research on it.

I spent my 3 years in compsci repeating classes on semester break, and got randomly placed in an obligatory internship from my uni outside my expertise. It's nothing from what I've learned and it takes 4 hours of commute everyday. While everyone wants to work in banks or popular startups, I have this goal to learn Unity 2D and pixel art, work in an indie game studio and maybe publish my own games on Steam, but at this point I'll be lucky to have the will to graduate before unaliving myself

Me either. I work in IT, but really hate coding. There is so much more to IT than programming. Honestly.

I'm feeling the same way. Im currently learning how to code, but sometimes I ask myself if I really want to do this. Some days it's just boring and tidious asf, and if you end up getting hired your going to be doing this for 8-10 hrs a day, 5-6 days out of the week, slaving away at a company sitting all fucking day damaging your back and making someone else super rich. There's nothing like being able to create your own dream working for yourself and making the money you want to make, but that's a challenge and most people never make it, so they end up doing something they really are not passionate about(coding) and alot of times end up getting burned out just for a pay cheque.

Most "Software Engineers" spend most of their days unraveling someone else's shitty code.

I love the way you expressed yourself. For me I love to code. But I dont like doing code for a job, I love to build stuff but I do not want to code for companies. I love to teach. I will consider doing this for many years.

I don’t know if you’ll ever read this, but thank you for making this video. I completely relate and am hoping to find something that I can enjoy.

This is how I feel.
And I have a career than more than 6 years as a coder... I just hate it but I tried to fight against this feeling everytime...
Now I just cannot ignore that anymore.

Coding is fun when you are a master over your own project. I need coding, because I create projects, such as apps in Google Play, or a machine learning application that reads manuscripts. Coding sucks when collegues are 'improving' my code, which for me is the same as spoiling. I worked a couple of years with other coders, and I found that I'm not that type of coder. I'm not interested in the 'coding as poetry' kind of thing. Refactoring is a nightmare. As long as I'm the only coder and I make working applications that I like, I love coding.

I love to learn coding because it seems interesting to me.Not because I want to work for others.

I hated university from the start and wish I never listened to my parents. I knew it was never for me but I was too stupid to stand up for myself and move out. If your parents force you into university and you absolutely cannot stand it, pack your bags and move out. I should've done that at 18.
