Haha Dave nailed it with the Tupperware container full of SBCs and accessories.

Man, that threadripper is that hot rod on Sunday everyone is staring at.

This kind of carefully managed benchmarking across a huge range of devices is REALLY helpful to put into context the relative performance characteristics of each device, thus helping make decisions about what platform to launch various projects on far easier! 🎉

Dave's Garage has quickly become my favorite YouTube channel. Your videos, to me, are always both entertaining and informative. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.

I am amazed how much you can squeeze into a 10 minute YouTube-video. I really appreciate that you always cut to the chase so to speak. There are many other tech-channels that unfortunately post videos that are wasting the viewers time by including to many irrellevant details and not having a clear storyline to follow. So you are the example they should follow. Maximum entertainment and information in a digestable time frame. Cheers from Sweden!

Upset the scale may be the greatest understatement in the month of August 2024. Made me smile, thank you.

Thanks Dave. I always like your stuff. You have a great channel. I am even older than you, and started in computers in 1970. It's been a great ride.

So I'm NOT the only guy with a crate of cables that annoys my wife.
It's good being a geek! 😊

If you are a tech person of an older sort, you have to have a bin of cables, just in case. I've got serial and parallel cables; they could come back like bell bottom pants.

I did need to use the power cord so that I didn't have to unplug my PC's cable when I was working on it yesterday. Oh, and I've got several types of USB cables for devices I may never see again. That pile of cables is so satisfying, just like the better half's collection of shoes she may never wear again.

I'm surprised that Dave didn't run this benchmark on his DEC PDP-11. It might need a wee bit longer than 5 seconds to run, though :)

Dave, another great video. Back in the early 70's the challenge at high school was to see how may primes you could find in an overnight run on the schools PDP-11/40. Could you get the prime sieve to run on your PDP-11/34 so we can all see how crazy fast machines came become over the pars fifty or so years?

I think the final score with power draw on a score card would be great to see, as well as score per watt to show chip efficiency

Hi Dave! Love your videos! Keep it up!

Man I never thought a threadripper would be so much faster than a M2. I too have ASD and had a late diagnosis. I really enjoy how informative and entertaining your videos are.

ah the "just in case" box of cables

Wow! I was not aware that the difference is so huge.

Very interesting. I am always amazed at how fast CPUs are these days. I started my career programing assembly on a 1Mhz 8085. Great video as always!

That really is crazy how fast computers are Especially compared to computers of just a short 10 years ago.

Dave for scale you should always include the processing power of the 1st moon lander and the space shuttle

Exactly the type of comparison I’ve been looking for. Thank you.
