Imagine an Apple Watch, but with better battery life and with close to half the price tag. That’s what the Huawei Watch Fit 3 promises to be, and it’s also compatible with both Android and iOS. On paper, it seems to address many of the common complaints people have about the Apple Watch. But that's not why so many of you have been urging me to review it. The buzz is all about Huawei's claims of improved health and sports tracking. So today, we're diving into my initial tests of the Watch Fit 3. And I have to say, in terms of design, this is my favorite Huawei product in a while. I think the square shape is just so much nicer than the elongated shape that the previous Huawei Watch Fit watches and most Huawei bands tend to have. But enough about aesthetics and specifications. Let's jump straight into the testing and see how this smartwatch really performs.

I don’t have enough data to draw any definitive conclusions about the GPS tracking of the Huawei Watch Fit 3. However, at first glance it does look promising. Overall, the Watch Fit 3 seems like a solid device. For about 160 euros or dollars you get good quality heart rate tracking and what seems like decent GPS tracking. However, the sleep stage tracking is not very good, so I would only use it to track my total time in bed. Considering the price point and good battery life, it’s a solid choice, and it could be an Apple Watch alternative for those people on Android focussing on sports tracking, or even people on iOS that don’t like the limited battery life of the Apple Watch. I should note though that it might be difficult for people to get any Huawei device if you live in the USA, and it might take a while for it to be listed on Amazon. There is also one small thing that bugs me about the screen of the Watch Fit 3. This might be my slight OCD rearing its head, but every time I look at it, at least optically, the bezels on the top and bottom seem slightly bigger than those on the sides. This is a super small thing, and quite personal, but it does take away from some of the beauty of this device. All in all, I do like the watch fit 3, and I would have no problem recommending it to people that want a well-priced smartwatch with good heart rate tracking. Therefore, overall, I’d give it 3.5 out of 5 stars generally, and given the low price, I might bump it to 4 stars, with the caveat that the sleep stage tracking is not reliable enough. Now, of course the results I showed you might vary from person-to-person, so please also check some other reviewers.

Yesterday my trusted Huawei GT2’s screen came off after almost 4 years of everyday use and today I got the Huawei Watch Fit 3 for the ridiculous price of just 129€. So far… I LOVE IT.
I don’t think I will be able to ever go back to a round watch.

Your reviews are always so detailed and informative! It would be great if you could do a review on the Redmi Watch 4. I'm really curious to know how they compare to other models

Please do more Xiaomi devices. In my country (Brazil) Fitbit, whoop or Google are not accessible, so we end up using mostly Xiaomi and Xiaomi owned brands such as Redmi, Amazfit and Haylou.

Thank you for such a high quality content!

Hi Rob, I've just got my Fit 3 and I've compared it with the Fit 2 during some treadmill exercises. I've used the Fit 2 on my right hand and Fit 3 on left hand for the first 4 workout sessions and it turned that the Fit 2 was very very accurate. However, after switching them on hands and doing the same workout sessions, the Fit 3 was more precise than the Fit 2. I am right handed btw.
Example for test: set treadmill to 4km/h, count 500 steps, stop and see results. With fit 3 (right handed): 497 steps, max pace 15'08"; fit 2 (left handed) 475, max pace 13'53" (which would be like 4.3km/h, and the treadmill was at 4km/h during the entire workout, so the Fit 2 was not very accurate).
Well, when i switched bands, I've set the treadmill to 3km/h and counted 208 steps. Fit 3: max pace 18'31" (3km/h), 197 steps; Fit 2: max pace 18'31" (same as fit 3), 208 steps.
So, I conclude that Fit 2 would have some problems detecting pace depending on the hand you're using, while Fit 3 would detect the pace very accurate on either of your hands. Regarding step accuracy, they are the same, it reads very accurate on your main hand, and there's a 5% deviation on the other hand. I think that would also affect other workout results as well.

I have a great Huawei Watch GT Runner, but I just bought the Huawei Watch Fit 3 and I love it. GT Runner and Watch Fit 3 do not always measure walking accurately. If I walk slowly around the room, it measures that I'm walking fast.

I recently bought this and I couldn’t be happier, great stats, great battery life, no need for any 3rd party apps, sends me notifications as I define including when connected to car play. My Series 9 watch is now back in the box ready to be sold. This is now my daily watch!

Thank you, i dont regret upgrade from Honor GS Pro to Huawei Watch 3 for Sport. Before i buy this watch, i confuse to choose coros pace 3 or garmin fr 165, but with the low cost and accuracy HR and GPS it's make me happy. I dont care about sleep tracking because when i sleep, i dont use watch. Eventhough fit 2 is better but i still choose fit 3 because a look and harmony os4.
