In this video, the input impedance and output impedance of the circuit has been explained.

After watching this video, you will learn the following topics:

0:32 What is Impedance?

4:45 What is Input Impedance?

5:35 Why should the input impedance of the circuit be high?

6:57 What is output impedance?

7:28 Why should the output impedance of the circuit be low?

8:46 The effect of input and output impedance in the cascaded circuit/amplifier

What is impedance?

The impedance is the opposition to the electric current offered by the circuit or network when some finite voltage is applied.
Unlike resistance, the impedance is frequency dependent as it also involves the reactive element like capacitor and inductor.

The impedance of the circuit can be either purely resistive, purely reactive or the combination of the resistive and reactive part. But in general, for AC sinusoidal signal it is denoted as impedance.

What is Input Impedance?

It is the equivalent impedance that is observed by the source across the circuit.

What is output impedance?

From the load perspective, it will also see some finite impedance in series with the output voltage of the circuit and this finite series impedance is known as the output impedance.

This video will be helpful to all students of science and engineering in understanding the input and output impedance of the circuit.

I'm an engineer, but haven't worked with electronics stuff since graduation. Your videos are an absolute goldmine - perfect for refreshing my knowledge. Thank you SO MUCH for your efforts!

Thank you for this explanation, it was as clear and concise as possible. For anyone still left with a bit of a fuzzy understanding, do that last portion as an exercise (after reviewing the voltage divider portion in the video)

to all about electronics
sir,
yr video on input impedance and output impedance Is one of the few BEST teaching i have ever come across in my life. i am lacking words to express my. thanks to u for this outstanding, aweful video demonstration. SIMPLY outstanding.
for nearly 15 years i searched several books, authors and teachers to understand this but in vain.
u taught too WELL that too with formulas has completely cleared my doubts.
information compilation, introduction. presentation, clearly audible voice all praise worthy. I badly needed to understand this.
thank u

Great video! The desired input and output impedance suggestions are fine for low frequency devices like DC power supplies and such things. For higher frequency circuits like those dealing with radio/RF frequencies, you generally want to match the input and output impedance to avoid reflections of the RF signal and provide the best signal transfer from one stage to the next.

But why do we need high impedence as impedence itself means obstruction . I mean if you increase the input impedence than we can neglect the source resistence but the net result we are getting is high than why we are increasing the impedence just to neglect that term isnt it funny. I dont understood sir please reply me.

Thank-you your videos are really very helpful.wirth watching your videos.

Could anyone explain that how the input impedance should be higher than the series resistance? If the voltage drop in series resistance then what will happen in the input impedance?
