2025 Genesis GV80 luxury SUV review

The Genesis GV80 is large, luxurious and leaves you wondering just how many people will ask you "what sort of Bentley is that?".

It certainly has heaps of street presence, and so it should for more than $130K AUD!

There are a few versions available - the 7 seater SUV, 6 seater SUV with captain's chairs, and the 5 seat Coupe SUV tested here, which is the most expensive model, despite being the least practical. All versions come with a bolshy 3.5L twin-turbo V6 petrol and all-wheel drive (AWD).

In this test I'll tell you what it's like to sit in, back-seat ride in, and also what the ownership is like, how efficient it is (or isn't!), plus I'll tell you what I think about the drive experience.

Hey mate, could you possibly do a comparison test between this and the new facelift GV70?

Obviously looking at around 30 k more than the 70 is it worth it to get the 80? Best bang for buck would be appreciated…. Plus, size differences, ride, speed, feel, safety and space.
Would be great also.

I am not a fan of the fad of calling four door vehicles a coupe.. They see to be a style where they don't know what they are supposed to be. As old as I am, a coupe is a two door vehicle. No spare in a vehicle with 22's on our roads is waiting for an expensive exercise. Before shouting me down, I had one of the first Genesis (a g80 but not called that when arriving here in 2014) It was the Ultimate model and I absolutely loved it. My only dislike was the $700 for a new tyre and $400 for a wheel repair after hitting a pot hole in our meticulously maintained suburban roads.

Genesis released a software update (July 2024) that added wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

I'm sorry, compared to Chinese vehicles, these are inferior and hugely expensive.
