“Stitched Art is Art” - Have you discovered The Society for Embroidered Work? Stitch based artists Cat Frampton and Emily Tull co-founded S.E.W. in 2018, to raise the profile of embroidery as a recognised art form - in response to opinions that ‘Stitched work is just a Craft’. Its international membership currently stands at 460 and is growing. The aim of S.E.W is to promote and support artists who have an element of stitching in their artworks, hand or machine and traditional or contemporary forms of embroidery. S.E.W. have open calls each year; register on their website for updates. Filmed at the Clerkenwell Gallery, London.
