(ASSOCIATED PRESS) The gun found on the suspect in the killing of United Healthcare’s CEO matched shell casings found at the site of the shooting, New York City’s police commissioner said Wednesday.

Suspect Luigi Mangione’s fingerprints also matched a water bottle and a protein bar wrapper that police found near the scene and say the gunman purchased at a nearby coffee shop while awaiting his target, Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at an unrelated news conference.

The 26-year-old Mangione’s was charged with murder in the shooting last week in midtown Manhattan of Brian Thompson, who led the United States’ largest medical insurance company.

Authorities have said that writings found in Mangione's possession hinted at a hatred of corporate greed.

They’ve recovered a spiral notebook that Mangione kept, along with a three-page handwritten letter found when he was arrested, a law enforcement official said Wednesday. Police have not disclosed what was in the notebook.

The letter, found when Mangione was arrested Monday in Altoona, Pennsylvania, teased the possibility that clues to the attack — “some straggling notes and To Do lists that illuminate the gist of it” — could be found in the notebook, the law enforcement official said. The official wasn’t authorized to disclose information about the investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The longer coverage about Luigi goes on, the angrier the public will get about the state of US healthcare. United Healthcare is one of the 20 highest cap companies in the US. There is no reason a 'for profit' company should be deciding whether or not a treatment plan prescribed by my doctor is medically necessary.

What have we learned here besides the *fact* that for-profit health care is terrible ? It's that corporate media is equally as horrible, something out of an Orwell novel, SO toxic 👎

She said “I think all of us are taking a step back to find out what is going on with patients” it does not take a rocket scientist to find out why everybody is upset with the insurance industry. I think the government needs to step in and stop these insurance companies from overriding doctors, and stop denying 35% of claims so you can get rich.

Why not accusing insurances of involuntary manslaughter for lack of coverage

What's 'happening with patients and their experiences' is that they're being denied and shoved aside. That's what's happening lady

Well what is sad is these CEO, s get 40 to a 100 million dollar bonuses and we have to beg for our insurance to help us
No more bonuses unless its to the employees and the American people who make them the money. Im sure with some of the nuts out there it will happen more. Stop the bonuses and start providing us with better cheaper insurance.

UHC made over $90 billion in "PROFIT" last year. - LET THAT SINK IN .... Why are we paying INS when we need to pay the providers directly and the suits out of the picture .. >>CEO/ALL THESE BEANS COUNTERS out of healthcare full stop .. that's how u get those prices down and taken care of people ..

Literally your job to provide healthcare, and now you’re taking a step back to see what people have been experiencing. Perhaps the new measure in your services should be the successful health outcomes of the citizens that use your services.

For some reason I feel as if this guy isn’t the guy who killed the CEO. Call me crazy, probably am.
