Worry about maneuvering your boat in tight quarters? Using a spring line to help docking and leaving a dock can make it easier to handle a boat in confined spaces. We show some examples in the small Hythe Marina in Southampton UK. We also take you on a sail to the famous Needles.

Yes definately more of these 'how to' videos. As a single hander using springs, and spring bridles,  (set up as slip-lines) is a very useful way of getting on and off a dock.  And I am very impressed that you have bow and stern thrusters and didn't use them - that is classy.

Really like how you explain the topic and demon straight how to do it. It would great to see more videos like this. Thanks for sharing.

It is so nice to see how-to videos about sailing! Please, please, please... Keep them coming! We, as a family, love to watch your channel, and look forward to finding a Southerly of our own!

The animation makes it all clear to understand. Great job.

Very prudent and safety minded to practice the new boat without the thrusters. You know that things seem to fail at the worst possible time, but you will be prepared. Like the educational videos very much.

Oh, and, yes, yes, we absolutely will enjoy more of these seamanship videos. It’s very helpful to watch your practiced, systematic style.

This spring line to push off a dock looks simple enough to have Sheryl aboard so you only need to ask once to do something. Your new vessel sure has nice lines. You ruined me on keels and now I only want a swing keel....and cannot find one that I can afford....I think everyone that has moved thru your wake also now wants one. Thanks Paul ;).

Hi Paul and Sheryl... the boat looks amazing. The shot of it at 2:37 in the video is so beautiful. Looks like you guys are getting close for the big voyage.... Can't wait

I can watch howto videos for hours. Just when I think I know a little something, I find a well done video such as yours that gives another pearl or two. Cheers!

No dramas! Cool as a cucumber. Yes pls, pls add more 'how-to's. I've mostly dealt with cats, and find mono-manoeuvring in winds quite hit and miss (literally). But hoping to break that limiting belief with a southern ocean crossing on a 70' racing mono. I think I'll still be more nervous about coming into port and marina bashing than the big open swells. Hey-ho, a good friend told me, sailing is a "contact sport!"

Very Clean Execution of the Bow spring, and Stern pull fulcrum... I'd Keep an Eye on that First Mate There, Keeps wondering back and forth during Crucial Maneuvers... *Have Fun, Laugh Often, Be Careful of One Another* :-)
