Code is that ice and water shield "shall be installed over the drip edge along eaves and under the drip edge along rake edges." You've put it over both.

I run my gutter apron 5/8" past the eve and it fits right in the drip edge. Makes a complete metal edge.

The eave dripedge goes under and the rake goes over, but thanks for the video🙌.

Here’s a tip for your tip…start your rakes with full sticks, that little 12” piece you started the rake with is gonna look like shit from the ground. Then finish at the peak with your cut and bend (no less than 16” each side) if both rakes are the same length then the seams line up uniformly on both sides it looks like you know what you’re doing

How is the drip edge secured to the deck boards? If it is nailed, at what spacing and where? What problems can this cause if done improperly? If ice and water shield is placed under it like some here suggest, you would have to nail through it.

Exactly how it should be done. I also cut 45 degree ish angle on the piece that comes down the rake over the eve piece so the bottom of the rake piece doesn't arch at the bottom where you can't put a nail. Nothing to do with correct flashing but but simple and looks better (I think)

Highly disagree. Ice and water first and have it hang over 1 to wrap over sub fascia and then drip edge . We usually will strip in the drip edge at eave with a 6” piece of ice and water too.

Especially with gutters, it’s so easy for an ice dam or a gutter that’s backing up to get under the drip edge and leak right in

I've seen guys place drip guard under ice and water shield on the rake and under ice and water on the eaves trough. Does this make sense.

Not sure how well that ice and water sticks but I would prefer to use the ice and water underneath the drip edge and let it fold 3/4 down the fascia, because wind will push water behind the flashing between underneath the shingles on high wind storms, and you can run your felt over the drip edge

Every time I ask for "drip edge" my supplier says: "eaves starter?"
"yes"

I’ve always seen drip edge installed over the underlayment on the rake edge.

Treat the installation just like the SA system. Ice shield first in cold climates with snow. 3" over the gutter board. Set the drip edge in roof cement and nail. Install 6" strip of ice shield over the drip . Or the opposite- 6" first, cement drip, then full width ice over.

Look good but I don’t like to ice and water shield on the edge of the roof bec over the years I noticed those place the plywood end up drying out and getting brittle. And it doesn’t help at some of the nail of the shingles are overdriven and will stop the leak. But u know what does stop the leaks 30 year felt paper I still think that the best for flat roof or any under 7 pitch homes. 😂👍

Our drip edge wasn't installed with enough overhang (an older style, I believe). I think it's too difficult to replace. Only a percentage of the water makes it to the gutter. The rest rains on down, between the gutter and the eaves. Not quite sure what to do. I thought professional installers would know better than that.

We inherited the house this way; I would have confirmed proper installation.

Don't forget ice and water Shield for at least the first four feet! Here in Colorado we have ice work up under our shingles and can leak into our homes. Ice and water Shield prevents that.

Isn’t the drip edge that goes on the side suppose to go over the building paper or ice and shield. This is for wind driven rain to go on top of the building paper and drain out the bottom.

incision? 🤔 you went to carpentry college...didn't you? 🧐🙄

Your underlayment should go under your drip edge on the rake side and under on the eaves side.

Every person that has shingled before will hate you if you ice and water the whole roof, its fucking awful tearing shingles off that shit, it’s doable for 4 feet but its hard to make a profit when you spend forever tearing shingles off something that’s way past code

People really need to learn how to seam d edge. Instead they just overlap the top piece and its flared out looks like crap. Take a razor knife and open up the hem on the top piece then cut an angle on the bottom piece kick out the pieces lock together and there is no shadow or flare.
