Donald Trump’s request to halt his sentencing in his New York hush money case has been denied by the Supreme Court, meaning that Trump will face sentencing on Friday, and will likely be sworn in as the first president of the United States to be a convicted felon.

As a Brazilian citizen, I have become accustomed to seeing impunity and corruption among Brazilian politicians and rich people, but what is happening in the United States would be shameful even in Brazil. And that's horrendous, because, in a way, you were a kind of model when it came to freedom and justice (at least for American citizens). And I can't see a light on the horizon for you beyond premeditated and radical civil disobedience.
