The last we heard from Yumi Lacsamana's solo career was when she debuted the go-getting Pinoy pop R&B sounds of "Dyosa." It's been quite a while since, but not because of inactivity. In fact, as the other half of ace songwriting duo Thyro & Yumi, the singer have since released a handful of singles under the duo's name, among them the PhilPop-winning song in "Triangulo," the retro R&B track "Tandang-Tanda," and the inclusion of their version of "Tag-Ulan" at the "Luck At First Sight" OST. So it's just right that Yumi tries the solo route once more with the release of the modern and intricate sounding, singer-songwriter pop track "Kayo." This upbeat song belie the yearning lyrics underneath, and it's obvious Yumi is bringing a wealth of experiences as a songwriter onto this dynamic track.

Thyro and Yumi's work is the reason why I truly believe OPM can be as successful as K-Pop. If you skim through the comments of the songs they composed in the past for various local artists like James Reid, Nadine Lustre, Sam Concepcion, etc., you can notice comments composed by people from other countries (and not just Filipinos) praising the song. What's sad is, mismong ang mga Pinoy ang hindi tumatangkilik ng sariling kanila. As a avid Filipino K-Pop fan, I understand, but it would also be great if they promoted OPM as well.

I hope both Thyro and Yumi continue producing more music and not get discouraged. ❤️
