"We all know, at the end of the day this is damaging to everybody, including the players themselves, Singaporean Education Minister Ong Ye Kung said of the ongoing "tariff war" between the United States and China.

Speaking at the annual Singapore Summit, Ong said China is prepared to open up more in terms of trade, "so my view is that a better deal is on the table," but Beijing would not want to come to an agreement while "under pressure."

Calm down, it is not a 'war', just 'protectionist ' measure country used to make its own domestically produced goods much attractive to the consumers due to various trade and political reasons.

But the Minister must also take into account of other players in US politics. The military organisation. Since US have made China as the NO 1 threat in the world, US may sacrifice its economic advantage with China and bent on crumpling China's economy instead. In their view of the world, they would not allow any country to pose a challenge to her hegemony.
