There was a time when there were many many mill workers in BC but smart parents directed their kids away from that industry when they saw mills being closed down one at a time. But of course, there is still a demand - processes, etc. have changed. Same goes for oil and gas - it's not going anywhere but demand, types, etc. will change and hopefully smart parents in AB can direct their kids in a different direction. Of course, it might be too late for the parents (especially those unfortunately who have lost their jobs) but there's only so much a government can do and ultimately, it is up to demand. So hypocritical when the same people who want the government to help out oil and gas are the same people who hate it when the government tries to help out in other areas of their lives. You cannot have your cake and eat it too... just stupid.
