If you left some food out for him on Halloween, it ensured that your food and grains would last the winter and you would not starve. If you didn’t he would not give you protection and the mice would invade your food store, spoiling everything.

We were adopted by a black stray cat. He followed my wife home. He now lives with us and is a wonderful affectionate compagnon. Smartest cat I have ever seen.
