1st place: Gunsmoke 20 years
2nd place: Tie Bonanza 14 years, Death Valley Days 14 years
3rd place: Virginian 9 years
4th place: Tie; Wagon Train 8 years and Rawhide 8 years
5th place: Cheyenne 7 years (although most were 13 episodes)
6th place: Have Gun will Travel 6 years
7th place (possibly) Lone Ranger 5 years.
After that are numerous 4 season Westerns. Note; I could also be wrong, this is just my personal Collection. I don't know how many years Cisco Kid ran, for example, as I only have Collections.

When I was growing up in the 50's & 60's my Mom made us go to bed at 8PM every night.Later, as a teen, we could stay up til 10 on the weekends only. For this reason I never saw many of the TV shows that were prime time. So now I watch them on GRIT or INSP & it's all new to me. My husband says watching TV with me gives him saddle sores.

I’m pretty sure both BONANZA and GUNSMOKE were both longer running western series than the VIRGINIAN (unless I’ll misunderstood the host’s comments here)

Before she sang the praises of ambulatory footwear, Nancy Sinatra made a guest appearance on 'The Virginian' in the episode 'If You Have Years'. (She also did some singing in the episode).

I'm still watching the reruns of 'The Virginian and I'm still in love with James Drury. I'm still watching Gunsmoke, too, and I'm still in love with Marshal Dillion. Another man I adore today is Carl Higbie on Newsmax.

The Men From Shiloh was not a TV movie but a re-vamping of the series with more facial hair, bigger hats and an Ennio Morricone theme. It added Lee Majors to the cast and only ran one season. You can also not forget to include Doug McClure's Trampas as a factor in the shows success.
