This surgery has been popular the past 11 years. My Ortho in SW Florida offered both types of surgery. He mentioned, if you get fusion, it sometimes causes stress on the other disc, and you may have to get more work done on other discs. I'm getting this surgery done Aug 7, 2020. I've had problems with C6-C7 since 2010. Hands go numb/tingles/pain in upper back, shoulder. After prednisone, therapy, shots, I finally will get this done. Tired of temporary fixes. It's an out patient surgery. Home the same day. 2 weeks after, you go back to the Dr for checkup. Dr told me, if I'm not taking pain meds at that time, I can drive myself there. 4-6 weeks light duty, then back to normal. Cant wait to get my physical life back
