They should all have stood up when Melania walked by. Finally, Pence shook her hand after she offered hers and spoke to him, but he took his sweet time. Gentlemen they are not. George W can be forgiven because of his down-home Texas style. But a gentleman stands when a lady enters, and Melania is our former first lady and our future first lady. She deserves respect. As a European woman, she was very aware of the snub. Furthermore, she is used to greeting and being greeted by a woman with a kiss on the cheek. As she sat there, she was probably fighting back tears. A belated handshake from Pence was the only acknowledgement she received from that crowd. I feel very sorry for her, and I'm not the only one. Whatever happened to graciousness? Did it die along with Jimmy Carter?
