Came for the Music. Stayed for the beard. Fell in love with the accent. Paul Davids for President.

As someone who has recently ventured into providing Youtube content it gives me great reassurance that someone as professional, well spoken, knowledgeable and with more guitar playing talent than I could ever wish for - would receive any thumbs down for your videos. It just shows what jerks there are are lurking around on the internet. Your content is second to none.

I am just showing the shapes played on the low E string, but I encourage you to check out the shapes on the A string as well, they just as valuable to use! And probably because you figure them out yourselves you will certainly remember :)

I could just listen to this guy play the guitar whatever he plays, its just so "listenable" the demo of what he plays is just a great bonus! Thank you for this.

Just wanted to say that of all the 100s of videos I have wached on Youtube about the guitar this is the most useful i have come across yet. This has just opened a major door for me. I was often stuck as to where to go to next in my patterns -and this has allowed me to move forward on some pieces i have been worked on for a while. The biggest thanks possible to you.

Literally the biggest enlightenment ever. I’ve seen these shapes played during live performances of just casual pop songs and just couldn’t figure out what they were. THANK YOU!

At first I thought you were a hipster and hated you because of your perfect head of hair, but your no BS well produced and helpful videos changed my mind, good for you.

Im 25, I've been playing guitar since I was 9. I've been playing almost only Blink 182 pop punk style guitar my entire life. Recently I've found myself obsessing over the latest album by Paramore, After Laughter. The guitar on that album has changed my perspective on playing and has launched me into a journey to become a better and more versatile guitar player. This has brought me to your channel. I love what you teach, and for the first time ever, I'm subscribing to a youtube channel...yours!

Was watching your video unsure how you work out how many frets apart the inversion is....
And then the video pauses and you explain it perfectly! Bravo, perfect tutorial!

im here to say because of watching pauls vidoes ive done leaps and bounds in my playing and chiefly ive come full face to face with the jazz thing thanks to him im understanding so much now - i feel like im learning a different language for me the guitar sounds glorious and for lack of a bettter word im playing CORRECTLY ty paul bravo man ! so for people like me been playing for years and have chops paul simply shows yu how to put this all together --im so affected i dont even see just a pentatonic hard rock blues scale anymore also advanced players need to go back and learn" Big Love" -fleetwood mac / Paul lesson i did this yesterday i have to say i dont think ive ever played same song for hours like i did this being able to play this after easy to follow paul lesson is so valuable ----i never dreamed id be able to play something like this or be able to understand the theory but Paul delivered i look at every lesson on here from paul as a xmas gift one that lasts MERRY XMAS 2020 hang in there everyone

I’m glad I’m not the only guitar teacher who doesn’t have a consistent convention for ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ string :) Great video, cheers Paul!

On the piano this is one of the first things you learn. It really changes the way you voice songs and lead into the next chord or melody note.

That’s why I think for every guitarist it would be beneficial to be able to play just a little bit of piano. Nothing fancy, just being able to play most chords and make them sound nice. It really opens up a world of possibilities. If they’re into jazz, it’s almost mandatory. Things are so much easier to grasp on piano, yet the same theory principles apply to any polyphonic instrument.
