As a Kiwi, seeing ActionLab explain a Manu feels surreal

Pro tip for the highest level of water spray

Do a cannon ball but instead of folding your legs in criss cross them it helps funnel the water better

Depending on your weight and the height of what your jumping off of it can be awesome

Speaking from experience when me and the family went to a lake-house they had a tower deck and my sisters aunts and mom were all on top tanning they didn’t think they’d get wet…..

Until a 240 pound 17 year old me sprinted off of it like a coke infused chimpanzee and when I came up for air all I heard where there screams of sheer terror at getting wet as my dad swam over smiling from ear to ear and said

“Nice!”
And gave me a high five
It was GLORIOUS

With science you can turn any toilet into a bidet.

Nobody is talking about how that kid caught the ball! Impressive.

This is essentially how shape-charges work and how a fist sized lump of explosive around a copper cone can penetrate over a foot of high strength steel.

Reminds me of how underwater bombs do massive damage, much of which can be caused by the cavitation from the blast wave as opposed to the explosion itself

I am so glad so many people see "conical surface projected into a jet stream by pressure" and think shaped charge

This looks like a strategy that would be used in Jojo

Ah, the physics behind a Poseidon's Kiss

Looks a bit like the plasma jet a HEAT warhead creates from its shaped charge. Makes sense since the water displacement is conical with the tip at its lowest point before it collapses.

Very cool. In slow mo it seems like an upward water spout.

It's called the Kiss of Poseidon. Happens to me when I take a crap. Worse at 3AM. Cold toilet water jumps upwards and kisses your balls😅

Is this how high explosive anti tank shells work?

I'm pretty sure a similar principle is responsible for impact craters having mounts/hills in the middle. The ground acts like a liquid during impact and collects at ground zero.

I’d love to see the slow mo guys do a video on this, such a cool effect.

Used to do splash dives with my friends in the outdoor diving pool in the summer in the late 60s/early 70s, competing to produce the highest splash. Cannonball was for amateurs; only produced a low, wide splash.

We found two dives produced the highest splash: one was: arms folded, lazy boy body position but with one knee closer to chest entering water, then quick release backwards while lowered the raised knee. Created a big water hole and pressure to fill it. Often so high it popped our ear drums. Sometimes it even hurt a bit on the tallest splashes.

The other was a suicide dive, create an inverted U shape right before hitting the water surface, then quickly straighten ur back. Similar result as the other dive.
