Dear Diary,

I was selected to participate in the biggest break dancing competition in the world… I was so excited - I worked so hard for this! My friends, my family, everyone encouraged me… and then I failed them all. I did so poorly, everyone started making fun of me, posting videos and memes. I felt like I had just ruined my life - I couldn’t go anywhere without being teased. But just when I felt at my lowest, something amazing happened.

I really like what you did with this! Most of us have no idea what life was like for Raygun in the days and weeks following her very poorly received performance. She may have looked objectively foolish but she did so with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. She probably never had anyone along her journey who was honest and caring enough to tell her that she's not good at breakdancing. They all probably just encouraged her and cheered for her. But regardless, she went in front of an international audience and she was just having fun, being her authentic self, and very few others have the courage it takes to do that. I think we should give her a break. Instead of making fun of her, which just makes us terrible people, we should instead give her credit for having courage and tenacity enough to just be herself and put on a show at all... I hope she overcomes all the hate and insults I know she received and probably still does. Regardless of her skills and performance, she's still a fellow human and she deserves respect and at least a little bit of dignity...

Idea for future video with similar story elements:

A couple has a son in his late teens who is on the local baseball team for the town. The team is playing in the championships and has made it to the final game of a tournament. The boy's father brags to all of his friends and peers about how his son will win the game and bring glory to their town. Since the team has never in its history before made it to the championships, many in town are very excited.

At the end of the ninth inning, the bases are loaded, the team has two outs, and is down by one run. The couple's son steps up to the plate. The father continues to brag to everyone about how his son will make a hit and win the game. Unfortunately, the son strikes out and the team loses, much to everyone's disappointment. As the boy sadly trudges off the field, he is met by his teammates and coach. But instead of comforting him, they scorn him, blaming him for losing the game and costing the team their chance for glory. While his mother tries to console him, his father is angry and tells his son off for humiliating him. He leaves both his wife and son, driving home without them. When they arrive back home, the father appears in the glass doorway just as they are about to open it and he locks it, locking them both out of the house. The woman argues and pleads with her husband to open the door since he has the keys, but he refuses, forcing them to go stay with her parents. The mother tells her son that even if their team lost the game, what matters is that they tried their hardest, and sometimes things just don't work out the way they hoped. Failure is a part of life but it doesn't define a person, rather it is a learning experience.

Time passes and the boy becomes a pariah in his hometown among the sports fans. His peers in school bully him, still blaming him for costing them their chance at fame, and his teammates make it clear they don't want him on the team anymore, with the coach kicking him off the team. Even worse, the boy's father begins to publicly humiliate him every chance he gets. During an argument between his parents, it is learned that the father now has to deal with being teased and belittled by everyone who he boasted to about his son winning the game. And that he is now publicing humiliating his son to save face in the community. The mother angrily tells her husband that no father should do this to his son. Her husband angrily says he doesn't have a son, only a disgrace, officially disowning his son. Eventually, it becomes too much for the son and he attempts to commit suicide by swallowing an entire container of pills. Thankfully, his mother finds his unconscious body and gets him to the hospital just in time to save his life. After he recovers, he and his mother move out of the house. The marriage of his parents breaks down and ends in divorce.

The boy graduates from school, but even then is still mocked as the guy who lost the game. This proves to be the last straw for the guy and he calls out everyone, telling them that even if he didn't hit the winning run, all the blame for the loss shouldn't be on him. Everyone played as a team and lost as a team. Everyone tried their hardest. He repeats what his mother said and also tells everyone that there is more to him as a person than just what happened that day and that failure doesn't define a person, but is a learning experience. Through it all, he learned that many in town are nothing but sports fans who only care about the glory that could have come to their hometown. What truly defines a person is how they cope with it. Some in the audience are ashamed of themselves, but others are unmoved. Later, his mother gets a radio interview where she tells the whole town the story of everything her son went through and his attempt at suicide, blaming the townspeople and her ex-husband for what could have happened. Later on, a crowd of people gather outside their home to apologize for their behavior.

Despite the apologies of the town, the boy ends up leaving town for a fresh start. He goes to college, graduates with honors, gets married, and has children. Whenever his children fail a class assignment, exam, or fail to get accepted onto the school team, he offers them the same comforting words his mother told him, about how failure is a part of life, but it doesn't define a person and is more of a learning experience. As the years pass, he visits his mother and grandparents, bringing his family with him, but his father remains aloof. Eventually, his grandparents pass on, his mother's health fails, and she dies as well. Later, he hears from a friend that his father is dying as well. The guy visits his father one last time, hoping to reconcile. When he sees his father, the old man admits his failings and how proud he is of his son for the man he's become.

It's the one in the coliseum that matters"😁. Very nice speech there. And he played his role greatly. May be his best role yet😊. Perfect too on account of what a clown he is in some vids. And honestly I'd say her dance skills need a bit more work.

It's a great story and a great message, but Offbeat's lines sound more like Dr. Seuss patter than rap.
