A Cambridge friend of Syd Barrett, David joined Syd, with Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason, in Pink Floyd in early 1968, only for Syd to leave the group five gigs later. Pink Floyd's subsequent huge worldwide success continued after Roger Waters' departure in 1985, with the albums A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Division Bell both charting at No. 1 in the UK and the US, and sell-out world tours. Rattle That Lock released in 2015 and David’s 4th solo album, went to No. 1 in 13 countries. In 2017, Live at Pompeii released as a live album and film which was recorded at the Amphitheatre of Pompeii.

This is a wonderful work of art. My attention was captured the whole time. The lady in the yellow dress was enrapturing to all who laid eyes on her, the cats, the bar attendees, and the artist on the stage. However, in my opinion, the reason the saxophonist was not able to be swept away by her and have his heart totally broken was because his saxophone was also yellow. I think in this tale, the colour yellow represents allure, attraction, glory, and beauty worthy of adoration. None of the guys in the room caught her eye, except for the saxophonist and this was because his music was the allure, and she recognized it because she too is such. But as the story goes, she was not able to win him over, because his commitments is to music first and music alone.
