I just negotiated a seller for a hat. The listing has been sitting for over a year. She countered 3 times then I declined. Commented nicely letting her know that the shipping cost put me over my budget. She replied that her lowest acceptable offer is $13 less and couldn’t accept my $19 less offer and that the hat is “special” (it was her dead mom’s hat. Her mom bought it. Never got to wear it). She’s selling her own sentimental value of the item and is choosing to let inventory continue to sit indefinitely because of it.

I have bundled an item twice in the past week to let the liker know what my lowest is and they have cancelled their low offer and accepted my lowest. I think it helps to have that personal connection. It's made me happy. Oh and I'm obviously watching your series right now, thanks so much, love it!

Also don't decline offers right away since it sends offer notices to all likers so wait to see what else comes in. If nothing then counter with what your lowest is for that specific item based on pretty much all that you mentioned!

I quite often accept a lower offer if I'm having a bit of a dry spell and sure enough it usually sets off a selling streak, who knows why, but it definitely happens

This is such good info! Thank you! I have accepted most offers and counterd offers, I try to remember they also pay for shipping most often, so of course they want a deal. I’m thinking how I am as a consumer most times I love free or discounted shipping.

I’m glad you were feeling better! I completely agree with the countering to your lowest but for some reason when I counter to my lowest and then they’ll go up to more dollars from their original offer and that’s what I hit decline. I’ve been loving your series!

I’ve been experimenting with declining lately but I have no math on it 🤔 with the intention to make them negotiate with themselves, not to lose the sale. But I dunno 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s a conspiracy theory

Full price sales are amazing!! I always counter, I never accept offers that are 50% off the listing price. I feel my items are reasonably priced and dont mind giving a discount but alot of times, Ive had offers that are 50% off and thats the buyers best offer. I'm completely ok with them walking away from my counter.

I tend to accept most offers as long as I’m making some sort of profit. Unless it’s on an item that’s higher end/price and someone is lowballing like crazy. My mentality is a sale is a sale

Thanks for the excellent tip! I try to accept all reasonable offers. Besides, many of my items are thrifted and did not cost retail. When someone low balls I always counter instead of flat declining (as tempting as it is at times). Feel like the Posh algorithms are somehow connected with accepted / declined offers.
